  1. I have for sale one K-25-K taken from a Klipsch Forte II bearing serial number 328393165, indicating it was manufactured in 1993. Obviously due to its age, I cannot make any guarantees about condition beyond stating that the woofer is clean, has no obvious wear or damage (cone and dust cap are pristine), and sounds great. Selling because I replaced the pair with Crites CW1230 after the voice coil in the other original K-25-K was destroyed by the filter over the vent hole in the magnet detaching and vibrating its way into the gap, forcing the coil to rub its lacquer off on low frequencies. Tribe Called Quest dealt the death blow. I've seen others discussing this issue on the forum. It seems like a design flaw easily remedied by putting the filter on the back of the pole instead of covered by the dust cap and not using whatever CA glue they used that doesn't adhere well to the bare metal pole. That's what Eminence did for Crites. I cannot recommend the drop-in Crites replacements enough. FYI don't bother trying to recone these with the Speaker Exchange kit unless you're comfortable subtly modifying the generic parts they send and the final result not being remotely comparable to the original part. The voice coil measures the correct impedance, all the dimensions are close enough, and it is competently wound and lacquered, though it's on a plastic former instead of aluminum. Acceptable. But the cone is untreated paper and is otherwise too long, requiring you to remove a few millimeters, which then requires it to be attached to the spider a few millimeters outside the voice coil former instead of snugly on the former itself. The surround is mediocre porous foam that wouldn't stand up to any solvent based glue without curling. The instructions for setting the depth of the voice coil are also imprecise to the point of being unhelpful. Basically, Speaker Exchange sells a kit that works in a very general sense, but will not meet the expectations of anyone listening to the repaired woofer next to an original. Hence, I also have for sale the driver with cone, spider, voice coil, and pigtail leads removed if anyone has better parts and wants to take a run at refurbishing the thing with better parts. Make me an offer privately. Price for the good woofer is $125 plus $25 for UPS Ground. Alternatively, come pick it up in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago. Electronic payment by Zelle or PayPal. Cash is fine if you pick it up. Feel free to ask any questions.
