By the way, are HIs bi-ampable? 4 posts with bridges. Or is this something else?

Enjoy those Heresy...I do!
Thank you brotha! I thoroughly intend to.
Was a little disappointed the dude took the banana adaptors off that were shown in the pics. I would’ve ordered some days sooner so now gotta wait til Sunday.

Sitting here thinking I screwed something up. And then again, 45 years is a long time to imagine no one at any time took a peek.

Did I commit sacrilege or something? Serious question.

Couldn’t just go disobeying OO1 now, could I?

Oh and nice score micklipsch
Thanks, man!
So consensus on this vintage is to leave everything alone? Don’t mess with diaphragms, X/Os unless I want a newer Heresy sound?

can you pop the rear cover open , let's see the drivers
Will when I get ‘em! They’re supposed to be all original, probably never even opened. We’ll see

Decided to pull the trigger. We rested at $750. Will update later today after pickup.
Some additional pics. I feel these are in fantastic shape given the vintage and what I see out there.
I do get a kick out of some sellers with their “excellent condition!” descriptions when the speakers looked like they fell down a flight of stairs.

Yes, they are mounted about 9 feet behind us and 7 feet up on wall. They are far enough away that they work beautifully towed in a bit and level (not tilted downward).. Tilted down or level made no difference. If we were closer to them, would have probably needed to tilt down some. Meter adjusted speakers across the entire room from seated position, meter set at 75 db. Beautiful sound! Those round 'horns' work great!👌 Amazing clarity and match for surrounds in our setup for sure.
Makes sense—love it! Thanks for sharing

Location?
Toledo, OH. Kind of a haul for me. If I were hot after new black CW IVs it'd be worth the trip for sure. HIIIs seem a nice deal too but, it'd be a splurge buy at the moment for me so again, roadtrip not warranted. Hopefully a forum member grabs either or both, though!

I've also come to understand that these 2.2s, and likely 2.5s, are the closest timber match to the KG4s. So I could always flip one on its side, resituate the Klipsch emblem and call it good. Seems the sole difference from the center from Klipsch other than emblem placement was the V denotion for video shielding with CRT monitors, which's of course pretty moot today. But at the same time, I honestly feel the KV4's doing well with the KG4s. I'll probably do some tests though to see if I don't know what I'm missing.

Excellent! Glad you got them @Micklipsch. Very clean condition for sure! Great sounding speakers for their size, surprising amount of Bass.
All my nephews and nieces get this model KG as they turn 13, furnished with a simple used receiver, usually a Panasonic SA-XR55. The hunt is fun for me and they get some nice gear.
Happy listening to you!
Thanks! That's a fantastic way to help preserve sonic bliss in a day and age where kids and, sadly, adults, think that lossy music sounds good coming from a cellphone speaker. Thanks again!

Seems some folks sure trash speakers for some reason. Those are clean and were very reasonable. We've had ours for many years now. Well done Micklipsch ! Love em'
Thanks, Mike! That's great how you've got them cleanly up there. Do you feel they provide decent surround sound even though they're not being angled down?

I don’t think $800 is unreasonable given their condition and finish.
I’ve done several road trips in the 4-5 hour range for speakers, subwoofers, etc.
Absolutely. If they’re “the one” and you got a free day, much worth the adventure. I felt that way towards the birches he had purely for the nostalgia factor.
Otherwise, I’m heavily biased towards walnut, and the veneers range from subdued to highly figured and busy. I like the latter so I’ll pay a reasonable premium for them. The ones here in question lean closer towards my preference so I’ll factor that.
Appreciate all the input thus far, fellas.

The LaScala and Khorn have the exact same midrange squawker and tweeter horns.
The Heresy are just a great sounding speaker in their own right.
Aye. I grew up in the 80s around a pair of them. Hence why I want them in the collection
As 001 stated, some of these H1s start approaching HIII prices which's why I'm wondering if they're notably better sonically, or if it more falls into the realm of marginality and/ or subjectivity.- 1

Yes, abit rich at 8 for those but, if you want them. And ebay abit overboard and not a true indicator. If you could resell those for that after the transaction a reality check.
Yes, your decision.
I always look up completed sales to gauge. One can never go off of people's ask.
You think it's a bit rich for them. OK cool, thank you for that. I'm seeing if he's negotiable.

I doubt anything will go down , it may even go up higher ..... now for the Heresy 5-6 hours roundtrip my wife would flip
BTW there are Heresy III speakers going for 1k$ from time to time .
here's a deal , the promo was 195 $ until last week , now 239$
I can be back home before kids or wife's home lol.
Is there a much improved difference other than the pretty risers? I'm not as knowledgable on Heresy yet as I am on Epics. I thought H1s were desirable because of exact same horns as Khorns, etc.? Seems the greatest differentiator are the IVs with their porting as that may help with the lowend extension issue some folks cite.

From what I can see the cases look to be in nice shape. Not perfect but definitely not beaters either.Personally I haven’t paid over $450 for a pair of original Heresys but the ones you’re looking at are walnut and mine have been raw birch or black.
Also, he had RBs that were about the nicest birch figuring I've ever seen. But I was a day late on them. He was asking $675 for those

When was the last time you were in the market? Sure seems like the market more than doubled since goverment started leaf blowing money around. I'd think we should see a cooling down of that though. All that stim money was given back at the pump and grocery store.

did you sample the speakers , do they sing ? , the quality in those years was tops , square magnet K-22 , Alnico k77 - k55V , grilles look in great shape , are these HWO /walnut , risers wee optional in those years , do these have risers ? burgundy or black fabric is all the same , but burgundy looks better .
the most important is ......are the speakers not scratched or banged up and can you pick them up to keep em that way .
Looks like very superficial scratches on the tops and a couple minor nicks

They'd be a 5 hour roundtrip but the person seems reputable so I'm going on the assumption that they're going to sound great. They are HWO with slanted risers. I have close ups of the very minor flaws. Posting momentarily...

Kind of figured but the posts and bridges made me wonder. This’s my first set of speakers not using banana jack posts or those spring clamps.
Got these coming Sunday.
