  1. lynnm? What is your definition of "Bass Drive"? I like bass. I am a bass player. I do not like like too much "fake-synth" bass, however. Only a natural, organic, blooming bass note. Does this change your recommendation? The idea of the Zen intrigues me. The simplicity. The price ain't bad either. I would really like to make it work for me. A little over 102 dB (110) is plenty rocking for me if the Zen can only do it momentarily to cover dynamics. Perhaps the Jolida 302 and 502 sneak closer to the top of the list.

Where might be a good place to rehab this amp? Not being able to find a schematic will, no doubt, cause problems. Perhaps I will contact the Grommes company once again.
  3. Garage sale find: Grommes E-24 inegrated amp. Tube complement 4x 6EU7, 4x EL84. Any info? Any guesses as to power? It does have a two phono inputs (magnetic and crystal), but the phono is not very loud. Other features: mono mode, ultra linear mode, bass, volume, balance and treble. Sounds great with CD's, a little thin on the bass side. Ok with LP's, just need to crank the volume. Any info would help, as web searches have proved fruitless. Contacted the company (they still exist!) but got nothing in return.
  4. What about the Jolida 302 or 502? I know they are push-pull, but the 50 or 60 watts should really make the RF-7's sing, yes? It is very important for me to be able to rock the world!!! I was really impressed with the RF-7's, if you can't tell! This message has been edited by slacker on 08-19-2002 at 08:28 PM
  5. I know this shouldn't work, but given the crazy efficiancy of the RF series, would I be able to run a SET amp with the RF-5's or RF-7's? The list: Zen SELECT SE84C-S Antique Sound Labs Orchid Zen Integrated SE34-I (not SET, low watt) Some people are using Zen SELECT SE84C-S's with Klipsch RF-3's and RB-5's with good results. Any comments?
  6. I have recently auditioned the Klipsch RF-7's. It was love at first sight (sound?). I can't believe the "wife" is willing to spend $2000 on speakers! I am seriously considering the RF-7's paired with an entry level tube amp. Anyone out there using tubes to push the RF-7 (or maybe RF-5's, wich neither of us liked that much)? Amps on my short list are: Jolida 302 Jolida 502 Antique Sound Labs MG SI 15 DT Antique Sound Labs AQ1003 DT Antique Sound Labs AQ1001 DT Sound Valves VTA-70B Various vintage amps Any comments? Am I headed for disapointment?
