Hi again,
I recently bought a Klipsch Reference Series package from Tweeter:
RF-7 fronts
RC3-II center
RB-3 as surrounds with 24-inch stands
I have the RC3 on top of our 43" Sony, and bought it because we didn't have the height space for the RC-7.
However, my business did well enough in August that I'm springing for a new receiver. Yup, the Denon 5803. To house it, I'm planning on doing the next best thing to rebuilding our cabinet and buying an audio rack that will fit the Denon (probably on the side of our listening area, maybe 12 ft. from the front speakers.
As a result, we now have a nice space underneath our set (bottom shelf of our cabinet) that would fit an RC-7. The RC-3 is OK on Pro Logic music, but I finding I'm always having to adjust up the sound on movie dialog with our current Sony STR DE-1075 receiver.
Am I better off trying things out with the Denon, or would it make any logical sense to trade up to the bigger RC-7 with a bottom shelf placement? I've always read that center speakers work best on top of a TV, or on a stand below the TV, but not inside a cabinet. With luck, I should have maybe 3" on either side of the speaker, and at least 2" between it and the bottom of the set.
Does anyone have any positive experience with center speakers in a placement like that? It seems counter-intuitive, but would the better timbre-matching of an RC-7 compensate for the placement?
