  1. The khorns are in corners 12ft apart, in a room 12x22x8tall. As much as I'd like to put them on the long wall, it won't work. I've tried sitting into the sweet spot, which clears brings the high end in a bit better. I want to put pipe insulation on the bass end. The corners are not at perfect right angles. I'm likely going to get new Xovers at some point in time. Pondering false walls to cant the speakers' sweet spot farther down the room where the chairs are. 16' out.
  2. I have an old pair of Khorns that were not being used. I was going to sell them, but an associate of mine who's been in the business for about 40yrs said I was nuts. Soooo, I hooked them up to my ATC SCA2 preamp, Arcam Alpha9 amp, and a Naim CD player. They sound pretty good, considering they would likely sound better with another amp. I will putting my old Citation XX amp back on line once I finish restoring it. From what I gather, this may be too powerful for the khorns, I hear they like tube amps. Back when I first acquired the khorns, I had to replace the diaphram in one of the tweeters. I noticed that its capacitor may have a leak, but its playing fine. The crossovers appear to be original. I attached some pics of the drivers & xover, I hope they materialize.
  3. I'm new to the Khorn club and looking for advice on what would be a good amplifier. I have a pair of 70's vintage Khorns. I'm planning on installing the ALK crossovers in the future. Currently I'm running them with a Linn LK100 amp. It sounds good, but most likely I could do better. I have an old Citation XX that puts out 250 watts per channel of juice at 8 ohms. I am also considering tubes. My local 'experts' are split down the middle on what to use: alot of clean power vs. low watt tubes. What to do?
