  1. Thanks for the reply. Yes it is 7.2.

So currently using the front left/right channels and the 2nd zone.

I could use the rear channels as well yes, but placement of the speakers elsewhere could be problematic. If money was not an issue id get some landscaping speakers and put them in the back to make use of the extra channels but those are very expensive.

  2. Hey Guys.

So trying to dial in my outdoor audio set up. Hard to tell from the pic but you will see two AW 650s in the pool area and then I have two AW 525s in the covered porch area on the far right where there are string lights.

The 525s sound great sitting in the covered area and the 650s sound really good when swimming around the pool or in the backyard. However, there is a dead spot where the lounge chairs are as well as where my grills are (and the ladder). I have both sets of outdoor speakers running off an older denon x1700h AVR using both zones. That way i can have the pool area jamming but dont have to turn on the patio area or vice versa. However, when i am by the grill or on the lounge chairs, i really need to turn on both the pool 650s to my left and the patio 525 to my right to fill out the sound.

So I am thinking about buying the AW 500 SM, placing it above the middle window (where my right channel 650 is currently in the pic) and taking the 650 and moving it to the right, above the window nearest to the right corner. I guessing I would run off the AVR left/center/right, and select multi CH stereo on the AVR.

What do you guys think? Would that help fill out my backyard area even more?

Or should I just buy another pair of 650s, have three mounted up in a row, and keep the extra as a back up?

  3. So recently moved into a new house and I am having to adjust my set up a bit.

Going from having my 65 SONY OLED mounted on a wall & the 505c on entertainment console, to mounting my 65 SONY OLED into a built in entertainment center.

At first, I hated the built in... TV too high... couldnt place my center channel... etc. Yet, my wife loves it and with time I have started to adjust. In fact, the way I sit on the couch I still very much enjoy watching movies with how I have the TV angled, also plan to upgrade to 83in in future and which should help.

Ok back to my center channel issue. The good news is that I am going from RP-4000f towers in my old house to RP-8000f in this new house. Yet unless I modify and chop to hell this built in, there is no room for my 505c. I just noticed that Klipsch released a sealed 404c II that would work for me, as the depth of the speaker would allow it to sit on a small shelf as seen in picture. Right now I have been testing the RP-640D on wall speaker and to be honest I have been pretty happy with it although doesnt have much of a wide dispersion so unless you are dead center if can sound weak.

I was worried about how the 404c II only goes down to 87hz (the 640D goes much lower) but in calling Klipsch and Crutchfield, they both recommended the 404c II over the 640D.

There isnt alot of info on the 404c II online or on Youtube (reviews etc).

What do you all think? Ditch the 640D and go with the 404c II?

  4. So recently purchases a "renewed" 504c from Amazon, which I am not really sure what that means? Different then refurbished or open box right?

Anyway, goal was to replace my rp-400 which I bought a few years ago only to realize that my room (open to kitchen) could use the help of a larger center channel.

So far so good, seems like A LOT more mid-bass and wider sound stage.

The one thing I did notice, and seems only to happen when playing a 4K blu-ray with Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD and at high volumes (-8), that the speaker will at sometimes sound "overwhelmed"? The bass a bit muddy? Not sure if it is the fact that maybe my receiver is not warmed up enough yet, or maybe overheating, or maybe just not powerful enough to give the 504c the juice it really needs? BTW i have some fans in the mail which i will place on top of the receiver in the future.

Another part of me gets nervous that something is wrong with the speaker and I should have just bought brand new. But doubtful and likely just my anxiety getting the best of me.

    Thanks for any advice.

    My set up..
