  1. I just got my system and i have encountered a small problem. the dimensions of my entertainment center are off by about a centimeter and believe it or not this is preventing me from installing my rb5's in an upright position. i think i can take the back off the entertainment center and put them in upright that way, but if I can't is there any problems w/ resting the speaker on its side. how bad would this affect imaging? which side would the horn go on? would this affect the warranty? any help would be great as I can't find anything on the website or in the info w/ the speakers. thanks! gatorguy
  2. thanks alot for all your input. so far i think i am leaning toward the rc7, rsw12, and rs3's. however i haven't thought about tonal match or anything like that yet. i'm still new to all this. as far as the tv, bigger is better for me also and if a 65" would have fit in the entertainment center i would have got it. the dvd it still a tossup though. i've heard a lot of good things about pioneer. the guy at sound advice said they have the best "decoding engine" which will provide the best picture quality. i have no idea though. the panasonic rp91 is talked about pretty highly. thanks again and any other advice is still greatly appreciated.
  3. I am going to be purchasing my HT system this wednesday and can't make up my mind. i trust the guy i'm dealing w/ at sound advice but at the same time, he's there to make money. please help. The system will complement a new mitsu 55" gold plus which is about 11.5 feet away from viewer in a room w/ vaulted ceilings up to 15'. Anyway for space reasons I have to get the RB5II's. I can't decide between the rc7 or the rc3 though. would the rc7 be overpowering? i also can't decide between the RSW 10 or RSW 12. Is it truly worth the extra $$$? Lastly I also cant decide between the RS3 and the RS7? as if that wasn't enough ?'s what would you recom as far as dvd...my choices so far is panasonic RP91, Toshiba SD5700, and the Pioneer Elite DV45A. The guy at sound advice said the pioneer would give the best picture on a hdtv screen but he also was selling it. I would really appreciate any help. this is my first system and i'm trying to do it right the first time. Thanks in advance go gators!
  4. Thanks alot for you input!! I'll consider the RSW12 however I wasn't plan on spending near this much when I started so I'm not sure if I'll be able to swing that. Maybe if I downgraded my center channel choice from the RC7 to the RC3, I could use the extra $ for the 12"??? or would that sacrifice too much center channel performance?? Also, ShapeShifter or whoever else might have a comment, are you saying that the front surrounds and center channel do not have to be in a straight horizontal line. In other words, could I have them in a triangle like setup w/ about a 4-5 foot vertical gap between center channel and surrounds as long as I adjusted the speaker angle to account for this. Or is it truly best to have them all at the same height??? How much quality is comprimised in either setup??? Thanks! Gatorguy
  5. I am new to this site and new to quality sound. I just purchased a home and have spent the past 2 months living in Sound Advice looking at speakers. They will be going in my family room which has 15' vaulted ceiling and is continuous w/ dining room and the kitchen w/ no large separating walls. Front surrounds - Klipsch RB5II's Front center - RC7 Sub - RSW10 Rear surround - RS3II's will be powered by a Yamaha RXV 2300. I'm not sure if these will agree w/ each other or if one may overpower something else. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Also the entertainment center I have has enclosed speaker cases w/ grill covers along the bottom, but w/ my big screen the only other place to put the center channel would be above the TV on the light bridge causing about a 5 foot gap between surrounds and center channel. Is this a big problem?? Any suggestions?? thanks. gatorguy
