  1. After half a year of "Klipsch zero information policy" and my extremely bad experience with the support, I have now found an old firmware and just tried to install it via usb-stick. So what can I say? The downgrade to version 5.8.0 (the one with the 3 bass modes) worked like a charm. For me, every misbehavior has disappeared. The loud popping noises are gone and the volume knob can be used again. In addition, the speakers now automatically switch inputs again. I mean, if someone is listening via Bluetooth and then turns on the TV, they now switch to HDMI automatically again. That makes so much more sense than keeping the Bluetooth channel. Sure, the EQ function is gone as well, but I just can't handle another "Whoops!". It looks like we cannot communicate with your Fives...". Not to mention that I was the only one in our house who dealt with this insane software anyway. I've now happily uninstalled the app and I' m enjoying the speakers again as I did on day one. Case closed 🥲 The Fives 5.8.0.zip
  2. No, it isn't, and that's definitely a valid objection. Maybe @Ghen himself can help us out here? By the way, I measured the idle power consumption of the fives, which is about 7 watts. Greetings Hannes
  3. I use following settings: Bass: -2, Med: +2, High: +3, Dynamic Bass: on, Position: Wall
  4. Hey guys, I just learned from another forum member that with the hardware version 02.00.01 of the speakers, the EQ settings are saved successfully.

  6. Hello and thanks for the helpful information. I think you are very lucky. May I ask where you bought it? I have hw version 01.00.01 and the EQ is not saved. Even more, since the update to fw version 1.6.9, the volumeknob is unusable and I have random popping noises in the speakers. That there is a new hardware version now completely takes away my hope that the problems will be fixed. What a bummer.
  7. They can't even get the EQ settings to stay in memory when you turn off the speakers. And you want a semi-professional EQ. 😂Klipsch is a joke...
  8. My speakers came with a wavy mesh grille that looked like someone had punched into it. I complained to my dealer about this and Klipsch replaced my front grille within a few months. However, the replacement grilles looked identical. At least I now had an extra pair and could try to smooth it out myself. The grille material is apparently some type of thermoplastic that shrinks when heated. To causing the grid to self-tighten, I applied carefully and evenly heat with a hairdryer. So, if anyone has the same problem, I can recommend this method. Do not use a heatgun. Enjoy the result 🙌
  9. I have already contacted the technical support by mail on the fourth of January to get help with the knob issue. I told them, that I am a very satisfied owner of The Fives but ran into that issue after updating. I only got an automatic incoming reply and then they ghosted me completely for 3 weeks. They apologized for the late reply and I was advised to just use the volume control in the app instead of the knob. In the meantime, I noticed the Pop noise issue when changing inputs and asked for help with that as well. They answered with one-liners, asked if I had changed the HDMI cable, etc. After several emails in which I tried to explain that it can't be the HDMI-Cable, because the speakers pop even if no signal cable is connected at all, they ghosted me again. I then thought to myself, if I'm already in "contact" with support, I can also mention the EQ-issue. It is worth a try. Finally, on February seventeenth, they replied that they "are aware of and working on a patch fix" for the Knob-issue and if I have multiple problems that "were not fixed by the updates or the reset", I should return the speakers where I bought them. I should note that I contacted the american support and they only offer "troubleshooting support". So despite everything, they completely ignored that the problems came with the update and that all I want is troubleshooting support. I realized that this leads to nowhere and did not reply again. The ticket was auto-solved on March fifteenth. This was by far my worst experience with any support i ever contacted.
  10. The speakers do not even save the EQ settings. After you have turned them off and on again, they run in the flat setting again, although the app shows it differently. Set the treble extremely high, mid and bass low and you will immediately hear that they run in the flat settings after they were turned off.
  11. Hello Community, here are our experiences with the firmware update: We were very satisfied with our The Fives and installed the update only because of the equalizer function. The update worked flawlessly, no error messages. Nevertheless, we now have two problems that worsen our user experience. 1. Random popping/cracking noises comming from the speakers. Sometimes left speaker, sometimes right. Mostly when changing the input channel. Occasionally when restarting a video after a pause. (HDMI) 2. The update has rendered the volume control on top of the speaker unusable. It works, but the gradation of the volume control is now so fine that it feels like you have to spin the wheel forever before anything changes. A factory reset and reinstallation of the firmware did not change anything. Has anyone had the same experience and been able to fix the problem? If not, can I find old firmware files somewhere to downgrade the speakers? Thanks for answers Greetings from Germany, Hannes
