why ? klipsch Engineering  trusts @Deang to restore klipsch networks with genuine klipsch parts , sadly your speakers will no longer have the   klipsch sound .

I bought them new in the box and guess they never did have the correct sound. left and right had different woofers.

  2. I'm having a pair of KG 4.2' s crossovers redone at Crites Speakers.  I was cleaning off the woofers and noticed an issue. Now I bought these new in the box back in the early 90's from a audio store called Sound Advice. Issue I noticed is the 2 woofers aren't a matching set. One has a K-1005-K in it, the other has a K-1001-K in it.  The 05 is the correct part for the 4.2, the 1001 of for a 5.2.  I've searched but haven't been able to find a K-1005-K. Should I buy the 1001 and tell Crites?  They haven't started on them yet, I just mailed the parts in. Or keep looking for a 1001? Any advice would be appreciated.

What I'd do is put the 4.2s in the front, put the 4.5s as rears, use the R14ms as rear fills (or in another room for stereo) and spend my money on 2 or more subwoofers.  More sub's means less distortion and more even coverage in the room, not the mention the power available when the depth charges go off!

Well.  Kg 5.5s  I would.of.bwt the farm they were 4.5 's. A second sub doesn't sound bad. Just tore down the 4.2.and 5.5s to send the cross overs to crites to be rebuilt in gold version

  4. Right now, the CF-2 and KG 5.2 are within my budget.

Choice wise which is the superior speaker? I really like the sound from my 4.2's

Just purchased a Marantz SR 7015.

Center is a KV-4 fronts are KG4.5's side are kg4.2's and new rears are R14M's and a JBL Sub

Wanting to change the fronts to either a kg 5.2 or cf2

Although I found someone selling a pair of Forte 1's too. A bit more money than the other 2

  5. First post here. So 👋 hello.  I've had my Klipsch speakers for a long long time. Bought the KG 4.2's from Sound Advice in North Miami back in 93.  Still have them still love them. Later got a set of KG 4.5's then a KV 4 center channel. So, I just upgraded to a Marantz sr7015. To good a deal to pass up. I'm thinking of replacing my k.g 4.5's. My choices are, sticking with vintage for the most part, KG 5.2's, CF2's or SF3's. Standing in the room with music, the 4.2s sound better than the 4.5's to me. The highs are about even but the 4.2's seem to have a richer sound. Also have Infinity RS1s for rear, but I have a set of Klipsch r14m's on the way to replace those. Either way, stick with the 4

5's or are any of the 3 others a better choice. I'm not saying the 4.5 sounds bad I'm just seeing if I can find something a little better. It's a medium sized room
