  1. Getting warmer shakeydeal.you’ve probably figured by now that I’m hell bent on having a Klipsch heritage speaker in my mancave.back when I was selling stereos in the early eighties klipsch were scoffed at as p.a. Speakers so I discounted them. A few months ago I bought a pair of rp 400 m’s to redo our a/v system in our very “live” living room. Sounded pretty good so I bought a pair of rp 8000fmkll’s and they sounded better than any “ cone in a box” speaker i had tried to date. Which brings me to my point. I think a horn speaker(albeit not perfect) will work better than conventional arrangements in accousticly challenging rooms.one more point I would like to make, musical genres play a huge part in speaker choice. Trio jazz or classical don’t put the same demands on speakers/room as do rock or edm.just saying i think that gets lost when we discuss a speaker’s capabilities.
  2. Thanks flevoman, If the al5’s don’t work i can always fall back to the heresy’s and be happy. It’s always a challenge to find what works for us individually.but I find these forums helpful. Good luck working out your situation.
  3. Your math is correct mmurg. My room is actually closer to 11’(I rounded down) I did a mock up of the la scala in my room assuming they would be against front wall. I have over 8ft distance between speaker and my ear. I wouldn’t necessarily call that near field listening. Anyhow I will post when they arrive and have them set up! I’m pumped. Def la scala room/shrine.
  4. Thanks mmurg, That is exactly what I was thinking and the feedback I needed to help me pull the trigger on the la scala’s!
  5. I agree shakeydeal. I’ve given up on cornwalls. Optimal is a very gray area tho. Ideals aside seriously looking at a pair of la scala al5’s!
  6. Wow! Ok cornwalls 82, I guess the profit has spoken! My apologies if I’ve offended your vast knowledge of proper speaker/room relationship. I initially posted wondering if anyone had luck with cw4s in small room? Most of the chatter I got was slamming the heresy’s. If I had a buck every time someone gives an opinion i didn’t ask for….. spotted an article somewhere with Roy Delgado talking about big horns in small rooms. Gonna check it out. Maybe I’ll learn something cw82🙉
  7. Ha, I agree 001. In terms of the heresy4s capabilities I certainly will be underutilizing them. But that doesn’t mean they won’t sound good at low to medium levels!
  8. Just to follow up on the negative effects idea. I’m not proposing playing heresy’s really loud(over 80 db). Lots of sound pressure in a small room certainly won’t work. One of the benefits of horn speakers is their good dynamics at lower levels. I think heresy’s might be perfect fit with some tweaking! And yes flevoman also Dutch!
  9. Yes flevoman not ideal. But I’ve had good luck with sound panels in my room. I think the nature of horn speakers helps mitigate some of those problems.my elac uni-fi reference ubr 62’s create more “ negative effects” than my Klipsch rp 8000f mkll’s. I think controlling bass will be biggest challenge.
  10. Thanks Tom 05, I’m confident the heresy’s will work fine with a little room correction.
  11. Just to follow up I put my rp 8000fmklls in my 10x10 and they in no way “overwhelm” the room! In fact less so than my elac uni fi reference’s. Yes 001 was looking at the rf7s.
  12. Thank for all the responses. I currently have a pair of elac uni fi reference Ubr 62s in there now and they sound great. I have a pair of Klipsch rp 8000f mkll in my living room. I will see if they overwhelm my 10x10. I imagine they are dynamically similar to the heresy 4. Some Klipsch guru’s on you tube recommended 7 ft speaker spacing 7 ft listening distance for the heresy’s(which I have). I’ll be running a prima Luna amp and don’t really listen to high volumes. ( much🙉).
  13. Thanks flevoman, or should I say bedankt. Heresy 4 seems the more logical choice.was hoping someone had a positive experience with the cw’s.
