  1. Okay, okay. I'm beyond the denial stage now. My Promedia 4.1's are dead! But now what? I'm not going to buy another set of Promedia's, that's for sure. I really like the Quintet micro system - but can I still use my DD5.1 for decoding? Would I need to also purchase a separate preamp or receiver? Or am I better off selling the DD5.1 and purchasing a new receiver/decoder - I'm looking at $1000 or less for a kickin' home theater.
  2. I checked the DD5.1 with headphones on each speaker output, the DD5.1 seems to be working normally - decoding 5.1 Dolby and everything. But the 4.1's are still having the volume and distortion problem. They are no longer under warranty. Will Klipsch be of any help at this point??
  3. I need help! I have the Promedia 4.1's and the DD5.1, connected to my DVD, VCR, Satellite, and XBOX. Today, while playing XBOX, there was a loud pop from all 4 sats, then a horrible, continuous squeal. The DD5.1 LED display went blank, then to a line of jumbled fonts. There was a serious power draw in the house - my lights dimmed. I quickly shut everything off. There was a strong burnt smell from all 4 sats. After restarting everything, the LED returned to normal, but the sound coming from the sats was 1/3 the normal volume and distorted. The sub sounds normal, but it's hard to tell. The sub/preamp was not hot to the touch, neither was the DD5.1. I contacted our electric company and there was no reported power surge, and none of my breakers tripped in the house. WHAT HAPPENED?! And will Klipsch cover it? My DD5.1 is only a month old.
  4. Hey guys - just wanted to share some good news for a change! I ordered my DD5.1 from Klipsch online - just in time. The day I ordered, the DD5.1 went out of stock within an hour. I ordered it two days before Christmas and received it the day after Christmas (thanks FedEx). I've hooked it up to my DVD player and home entertainment center with the Promedia 4.1's, and it's everything that Klipsch promised. Works perfectly with my JVC DVD player and my new XBOX. Thanks to Justin for the great posts and website - all the info was extremely helpful when setting it up. Isn't it nice to hear a success story now and again?!
  5. Does anyone know the latest on the backorders for the DD 5.1's. I'm hoping to have mine before Christmas! The Klipsch store said the 10th?
  6. A question for all you tech guys, especially Justin TX 16: Could I create my own 5.1 system using the DD5.1 and 2 sets of Promedia 4.1's? Or even 4.1's and 2.1's? I have the 4.1's and LOVE them, especially after reading the posts concerning the new 5.1's. I've read of other users mixing and matching speakers to cover the center speaker channel. How would this work with the DD5.1 - give me all the gory details! Thanks
