  1. Serious its that easy, just take out the backplate and replace it with one they send me? Easier than I thought Awesome! Thanks, Velicos
  2. Over two years ago I decided to replace my crap Dell speakers, I read around and then finally figured I'd get the ProMedia's for my birthday. Little did I know I was getting REAL speakers and fell in love with them instantly. My pride and joy, now last night I put in Saving Private Ryan (Intro Scene with gun guns guns) to show off the immense power of the 4'1's, it was great. But when I went to turn my volume down via the sound mixer (where you here the MS ding to let you know the actual volume) it came out as BLAH! No more ding, just BLAH! I stood there in shock thinking the unthinkable happened, I blew my speakers? NOOOO!! Please someone help me out here, this is exactly what is going on. *When speakers are in standby mode (Red), front left channel emits a loud and steady feedback noise (static). *When playing MP3's though my 4.1's I can't go above 50% comp volume 60% klipsch volume without getting nasty nasty distortion (It sounds like my cars Panasonic head unit powering all of my speakers with the volume cranked) *The rear plate of the sub is VERY hot, the FAQ on Klipsch's site states you should be able to touch the plate for about 5 seconds. I mean I can't keep my hand on it for more than 1 second TOPS, what are they using over mits? I can fry an egg on it if I wanted to. Please can someone point me in the direction of getting them repaired? I'm a poor college student so I can't really replace these things and would hate to actually have to buy something less. These are older than two years and have never had a problem directly related to the speakers (Live! and Audigy issues). Come to think of it, a week or so ago my speakers would just CUT out for about 10 minutes and then come back in again. It happened about three times in the past 2 weeks or so, is this a sign? Thank you in advance, Velicos

  4. #1: Newegg.com is THE best online computer parts store to purchase from, with my side job I have ordered ~$25,000 of parts from them and not ONE hicup. #2: If you want upgraded speaker wire (http://store.klipsch.com/list.asp?CtgID=2) pick up the Monster 4.1 Upgrade. They make such a difference, more than I ever thought they were. #3:Wall brackets? I'm all ears here, I'm in a dorm so I can't put anything in my walls so my rear channel has pretty ****ty placement and the room is a acoustic catasrophe. ---------------- On 10/26/2002 10:13:05 PM Spooon69 wrote: I'm planning on buying the Klipsch 4.1s next week from Newegg.com (good place to buy them? or do people have any "stories"; they're $239 shipped there...) and was thinking about upgrading the speaker wire using the tips from http://www.soundwise.org (great site by the way). I want to get the 14-Gauge Megacable brand from Radioshack, but don't know exactly what cat# they would be and if I would be buying the correct ones. I don't know anything about making my own speaker cables or types of cables and such. Here is what I found from Radioshack.com: Cat.#: 278-1273. Are these the correct ones? Also, I want to buy 4 wall brackets for the speakers to put up in my room, but the Klipsch online store seems to be sold out of them. Where can I buy some wall mounts for the satellies? I checked the "DigitalDiva Wall MountZ v1.0" but they don't look that pleasing to my eyes. For the wall mounts, I don't think my apartment has wooden studs (metal according to my housemates), so how heavy are the satellites? will I be able to mount them on my wall? any tips? Thanks all. ----------------
