  1. thanks Bill. I could use the front porting and am really interested in their two channel sound. For H/T I don't the Klipsch can be touched by ANYTHING because of their dynamics. I was thinking maybe (4) rb75, (1)rc7 and the pair rs7. andy
  2. someone have some input? how about if I mention I just aquired an SVS Ultra! thanks
  3. Possibly losing the RF5 and going to all bookshelves. Have one set of RB5 II. Would like some input from anyone having listened to the RB 75 and compared them to anything else. thanks drptpcpe
  4. Actually I could get 11% off. Anthem AVM20 retail is $3600. MCA50 is $2k. MCA20 is $1k. Equals 7 channels balanced. Why buy the Balanced pre without the balanced amp. Heck, if you are gonna spend the money, just do it all. Now I paid $2174 for my 49txi. Not to rain on anyones parade but I didn't think the Anthem would sound $4k better. Nothing would to ME. btw, I got my Elite yesterday. The MCACC is fantastic. It took care of most of the room issues I was having. I did tone testing with my SPL meter before and after, and it really smoothed out the music. I will be playing much this week. Let you know. Bruinsrme. thanks for the CD.
  5. I purchased the 47ai even though the reviews are not typically the best. I have a Panasonic rp82 which is highly rated, for comparisons. Out of the box the 47ai is a little softer but is highly user configurable with three custom modes. The 47ai reads and seeks far quicker than the rp82, and the layer change is much better. I won't be using the Panasonic anymore. One of the major whines of the 47ai is the Chroma bug error.I have not looked for artifacts or blockiness,etc.....I also informed my wife that if she saw me crawling on the floor in front of my RPTV with the DVD in pause mode, looking for said artifacts or anomallies, to wind up and kick me in the *** as hard as she could for being an idiot! I typically never watch a movie in pause mode. But there is a scene in Wild Things.......... andy
  6. Well after a few weeks of listening, asking and reviewing, I picked up the 47ai dvd and ordered the 49txi. I considered Sunfire(too many issues), Anthem,(the local dealer never has one in stock, and $6k is too much to spend unheard)Anthem has a stingent ridiculous policy that you cannot purchase out of your area, or no warranty and the selling dealer gets dropped. This of course probably just lost them my business.(as if they would care)B&K ref50 and the 200.7 amp (which was too warm for me, seemed to lose detail)Rotel 1066 (No current H/T modes, even if you owners like the 2 channel, it IS behind in the H/T game)Outlaw 950(too UGLY and not the highest grade of components) So I decided on the Pioneer with ALL the features and best quality components. Also I tried the Krell Showcase and Amp.( good but not great in H/T). Now some will agree and some will rush to protect the integrity of their purchases and say I am crazy, but only the sound quality is subjective, the rest is 'the way it is'. So now I ask, no matter what the name on any specific product, as long as the build quality is good, and the manufacturer uses high grade components, with lots of great features, how can you go wrong? I do recommend that anybody making a major purchase, audition as many brands as possible and weigh the costs vs. features and need (desires). Although I would still like the Anthem, I do not believe it would sound $4k better to me.I hope the 49txi does as good a job on my RF5's as it appeared to do on the RF7's. andy
  7. The 5803 remote when used in the rf mode has been doing weird things to the receiver. Check some reviews. The other thing I want to address is an earlier post about the Sunfire reciever kicking butt on the Pioneer. In what way? The higher noise floor? Read the reviews Even the Sunfire site states something about it. Without going on about the receiver itself, Bob Carver recently got his "Carver" name back.Evidently in his divorce hie ex-wife had some attachment to the use..thus, Sunfire. According to a 'rep' from Sunfire the Sunfire line will fade into Carver. Now this is not a fact, but what will Sunfire pieces be worth if this happens? By the way I have auditioned the Sunfire reciever. It is good but you better like Carvers Holo imaging, because you don't get much else. As far as Rotel or Outlaw especially, competing against the 49txi is way above there pricing. If the Pioneer uses the best DAC's and the latest best DSP from Motorola, and the other two use lesser quality electronics, would it matter what name was on the Pioneer? What if you put Krell on it? andy
  8. When I originally listened to the RF5's I thought they had better tonal balance than the RF7, but today they seemed anemic. Am I just losing my mind? It seems that everytime I listen there is some fault. Not enough bass, not enough impact, not defined enough........Any help?..psychoanalysis? andy
  9. You guys are killing me. I just came back from listening to the 49txi through the 47ai dvd player, on RF7's and the RSW15 sub.Why don't my RF5's sound like that? I also listened to the 47tx on the RF5 with the RSW10 and the music did not have the same 'weight'. I am beginning to hate this. I know people bash the Klipsch subs but I couldn't take the BIG black SVS tube. I had the Hsu VTF3 but didn't like the music side. Will you guys buy all my stuff and let me start over? andy
  10. As far as the Outlaw, I don't want a great value, I want a good piece. The technology in the Pioneer is far superior to the Outlaw or Rotel and many of other pieces. It even has two of the latest Motorola chips for processing. Now the amp section has been complained about for shutdown, but I have also read independant reviews stating that the low noise floor is remarkable. You'll never read that about Outlaw. I also listened to the Rotel 1066 when it first came out. It was good but by no means stellar, and it was behind in features when it hit the street. I want the Anthem but it cannot be found cheap anyplace. It has some glowing reviews for H/t but also some mediocre ones in reference to two channel. The Pioneer is pretty stellar in H/T and carries top of the line DAC's,processors and is very well built. I have considered the H/K8000, but look at all the problems. Poor build quality, ugly and a cheap plastic volume knob with a rubber ring. I wish they had done a better job on the 8000, it would be a great piece. The Sunfires? As long as a higher noise floor doesn't bother you. What to buy?(shaking head with credit card in hand)
  11. bruinsrme I think I am going to go the 49txi and 47ai route. I do see several posts regarding the "should have gone seperates" but what in the price range could match? Outlaw? I don't think so. Rotel? I didn't care for really, and it seems already far behind in features. The only thing else I could get in the price range would be the Sunfire TGIII and amp, but there are alot of complaints about the noise floor, and Carver doesn't adhere to any of the conventional formats. I like THX and without it my RC7 can get really bright in some scenes. The re-eq is supposed to limit this. I also have some room characteristics that need help and can see the 49 eq'ing coming in handy. Any of you guys got any comments on the 47ai and the chroma bug? Seen it and if so is it bad? I have the Panny rp82 and 91 but want a picture with more in depth color saturation. Maybe to look more like HDTV! thoughts? andy
  12. Bruinsrme I see you have the 47ai Elite and have compared to others. To everyone with their opinion, without regards to the dvd-a and superaudio wars, cd redbook playback or the chroma bug issues, which player (pioneer, denon, sony, etc...)gives the best picture, Color depth and detail would give the closest performance to HDTV? Either film or video based. andy
  13. Anyone use the Sunfire yet? Or been able to compare it to the 49txi. I know the Pioneer has auto setup, but another site has written to some extent on its inaccuracy in calibrating. And of course the Sunfire is known to be 'tubey' which would pair well with Klipsch. any ideas? andy
