I have regular speaker wire going from the receiver to the black and red binding posts, and I also have a subwoofer cable going from the subwooger out on the receiver to the LFE IN on the back of the speaker. The three position switch I have set to auto. The best I can tell is that this is two seperate speakers in one, isn't it? The traditional binding post input is not used by the subwoofer portion, or is it? I know that test tones from receivers for the subwoofer may not be very accurate. I previously had a Paradigm sub hooked up the receiver, and you did get response out of that sub when the test tone was played. So that was what I was using as a comparison

Have you tried hooking them into a different source, such as a computer or walkman? Let me know, David ---------------- No. I am talking about the Synergy SP-1's.
  3. I just picked up a pair of brand new SP-1s ( I know they are discontinued, but I got a good price ). Anyway, I am not sure the powered sub is working properly. I have a Y-adapter plugged into my receiver, and then a sub cable going to the LFE in on the speaker. I have the switch set to auto. When I play a CD or DVD, the ligth on the speaker does go from red to green. But I don't seem to get any bass. If I play the test tone on the receiver, when it gets to the subwoofer, nothing. If I go to the THX setup on a DVD ( like Star Wars Episode I ), and go to the subwoofer x-over test. It plays the tones and goes down, but you again don't get anything. I have the main speakers set to small in the receiver. I have the bass being sent to the subwoofer. Any suggestions? I certainly hope there is nothing wrong with the speakers as they are brand new out of the box.
  4. Do they ever respond to e-mail? I have e-mailed both support and parts about a part for a speaker. I want to know if part is available. How hard a question is that. Why bother putting an e-mail address on the web page if you are not going to respond to questions? I am not very happy with the support. Any ideas? I have a busy schedule and thought it would be easier to just e-mail them my question instead of calling and sitting on hold.
  5. Is this an easy repair to make? I have never tinkered with this type of stuff before. Is it as simple as unscrewing the old one. Disconnecting a few wires, and plugging the new one in? Or is it more involved than that? Any idea on price? ( minor issue, just curious on a ballpark figure ) Thanks
  6. I have a pair of KSF 8.5s, and I really like them. I am having a problem with one of the speakers. On some songs the bass just sounds wrong. It will sound real flat or buzz or sound real distorted. It is hard to describe the problem. But it doesn't happen on all songs. It is definately the speaker as I have tried the same speaker on the other channel of the same amp and even on both channels of a differant amp. So it is the speaker. So it seems that it is having a problem with a certain frequency range. That is my best guess since it only happens on certain songs. Any ideas on what to do? I really like the speakers and if it can be fixed I would like to get it fixed.
