Having two SVS Ultras doesn't make them go any lower, it just adds 6 dB to the SPL's... pushing it above the Reference Level. So, one SVS Ultra can bring you within about 5 dB of a professional standard... and that's not bad anyway you slice it. So, one SVS Ultra still goes deeper and still produces more SPL's (with an adequate amp) than any manufactured competitor I have heard. ---------------- I dont understand how the SVS outperforms the Klipsch RSW15, which comes with a 650Watts RMS, whereas this one is 500 watts RMS. Would it be better to go with one RSW15, and one SVS Ultra, due to the fact that the SVS can hit the lower frequencies better, and the Klipsch does a better job and the lower midrange?
  2. I am also considering a projector myself, I've been very interested in the SharpVision series, every home theater retailer, whether online, or retail store, recommends that to me than any other, unless of course I want to spend 30,000+. Its either the sharp 9000u or 10000u, only difference being 300+ lumens on the 100000u, and possibly a better scaler. Perhaps a little over your budget of about 13K, retail, or 9K online, but definitely look into it. I've heard its the best DLP projector out there, without the rainbow effect. the contrast is like 2500:1.
  3. Marantz and Denon are owned by the same holding company. So its funny that they are competing against each other... go with Denon, it has the greatest WPC x 7 pre-amp/amp that I've seen.
  4. so for home theater use, definitely go with SVS Ultra?
  5. Hi, I'm very new to this forum, I've been researching a home theater system (audio and video) I would like to put together, at some point. I'm very impressed with the stats of the Klipsch Reference Series 7 System (RF7, RS7, RC7, RSW15). But I noticed in many of your posts that some of you with similar setups have choosen to go with SVS Ultra subwoofers, than the complementary RSW15s? I really wanted to know why? is it because the RSW15 is more expensive at $1800 each? is that the only reason, or is it because it is a poor performer? My local Tweeter store does not have an RSW15 for me to listen to, but does have the RSW12, but they recommend the SVS, i think, over the RSW12, because they think it does a better job at the lower frequencies. Again, I have not heard the RSW15 myself to have any opinion myself, but I was hoping you all can help in being my "ears". Thanks
  6. There will be a noticable sound difference at louder volumes. If you want to go to the "impress your friends" volume level, you will start to notice the difference that power makes, not to mention the distortion. Personally, if I was you, I would let the speakers sit and collect dust rather than buy a reciever that I knew I would have to upgrade. The added expense is not due to all the "bells and whistles", its due to the amplifier power/distortion and thus the quality of the components used. Why dont you get a good amplifier on a 12-month payment plan? just a suggestion
