  1. Thanks for nod Noz. ---------------- On 2/2/2003 6:23:29 PM Gordon Groff wrote: ---------------- On 2/2/2003 4:11:42 PM bigwally wrote: ---------------- Gordon, I think I can save you a little time. The Rockets are much more like the other cone and dome speakers you compared the Klipsch's to than they are like the Klipsch's. If in your opinion the Klipsch's KILLED the Vienna's and Sonus Fabers Tweeter had laying around, then you sir are a Klipschead. My advice would be to go forth and enjoy! ---------------- Hey bigwally aren't ya worried what Mark will say when he sees that? And just as we're gaining some trust. Tell them something like real men buy without listening. Try to stay with the program. LOL! I'm so psyched by the Klipsch sound, I'm gonna blow my HT budget on the audio end and let the video end dangle for a while. Gordon ---------------- Gordon, Don't sell the piano for speakers even if you think it sounds just as sweet.
  2. Dale, I bought the KSW 12 before I had done much research, or really gave much thought to audio. I was going from a Sony rack system to set up a 5.1 system, and did trust the Klipsch name based on my Pro Medias which sounded better than the rack system. At the time and for the price I paid I have no complaints. It will get upgraded in the not too distant future as will the Yammie.
  3. Thanks guys, I was going to hit and run but...ummmmm....beer!! Here's my system: Speakers: Rocket by Onix: 750 mains, RSC200 center , and RSS300 surrounds. Here's where you can see them. www.AV123.com . Subwoofer: Klipsch KSW 12 Receiver: Yamaha RX-V995 DVD player: Panasonic DVD-CP72K Cassette Deck: Nakamichi DR-10 Turn Table: Technics SL-Q300 VCR: Mitsubishi HS-U431 RPTV: Hitachi 50GX49B Satellite: DishPVR 501 System Connections: Yes As a newcomer I won't discuss my next probable upgrade because that might seem low to some. mOOn, I read your rist saga, and with friends like that... Hey, I can see why you have a lot of them.
  4. C'mon...AVS might a reputation here of being "too nice" but to discuss conspiracy you should really be rereading this thread. I think the conspiracy was described as an anomaly for the board members here. The basic difference between the boards is that this is a Klipsch dedicated board that welcomes others to come and post. AVS is NOT a product dedicated board, and in fact Rockets aren't even advertisers there. The fact that they did well in a poll where many Rocket owners met and discovered them only speaks to the fact that those people like them. If a speaker poll was taken here the outcome would be in much less doubt and probably not as representative. It's all about who is responding to the polls, not how many times each one voted, and you can be sure that 25% isn't Rocket's market share. Must every motivation be seen as underhanded? Could the person who set up the poll simply be creating an interesting study to further discussions on the board? Nah...no controvercy there. I also think as bad as another place may be, the place you are at is no better because of that.
  5. Is this an audio site or just a bunch of egg heads? Ouch....Speedy recovery mOOn.
  6. Dale, Thanks for invite. I usually do a lot more lurking than posting, but I'm not shy to get involved sometimes when a situation moves me.
  7. Bill, I didn't call everyone trolls and if that's how it came accross it wasn't what I meant. The name calling comment was for something I misinterpreted here talking to mOOn and said I was wrong about. Only one poster from here was criticized for their conduct over there. The prank/discussion would probably still be going on if this thread wasn't seen and everyone would be sharing their knowledge and having a good time whatever their motivations. I don't like to see threads closed but apparently the administrator made the decision to do so. Like mOOn said he also locked some other threads and posted some new posting rules specific to the speaker forum. I can only guess the administrator wants to avoid controversy. Personally, I think there is usually more to learn from controversy than back patting, as long as it remains civil and talks to the issues and not the posters. A speaker forum without comparisons? I wonder how that will work. When all is said and done, forums are pretty much the same with the same occasional problems. I think the reaction here bears that out. All but one from here was a gentleman during the visits, and the "misbehaving" was before the crew from here showed up, yet some here think they were dissed. I don't know who is happy the thread was closed. I think what Russ said here is pretty indicative of how many people feel about the people that stopped by there. He is a frequent poster. Thanks for having a place where I can air my feelings and read the opinions of others. That is why I spend WAAAAAY tooo much time on line. The good news is I can listen to music at the same time. I didn't come back to offend and apologize if I did, and for the long ramble.

Something needed to be said. If not to save my face, at least the Klipsch name. Thanks for being cool about all this. I really do feel like a schmuck ---------------- That's why I came. I really like music and audio, but the dynamics of the net intrigue me as well. It is unfair to condemn any company based on the unsolicited actions of the end users. Even when the actions are positive the company is sometimes villified by people with another POV. And so it goes...
  9. With all due respect or lack of: The actions were wrong and supporting them is just as wrong. Spin it however you like. The banning, I think as I had nothing to do with it, was because of a personal attack directed at a respected manufacturer and contributor to the audio community. Mark is cutting edge with the Perpetual Technologies products, and also making what growing numbers think is a positive difference in the way business is conducted on line. He's not some TinHere off the street who's mostly along the ride. He's a man who for years has earned the respect of his peers in the audio business with real accolades and awards to show for his efforts. I guess the administrators like the knowledge that manufactures can bring to the forum so it's understandable that they don't want them subjected to ridicule. Most sites don't let trolls remain. AR is a good example of what happens when they do. Most of the "regulars" can be found elsewhere now and it was as tight a bunch as I see here only with more diversity. If someone said "Paul Klipsch was a clown" they wouldn't only be wrong, they probably wouldn't be welcome here. Banned or not banned, at the forum's administrators discretion, it's behavior I don't think serves anyone well. I read a chilling comment on the S&V forum. Someone said "my forum right or wrong". It really doesn't leave much hope when people don't even want to acknowledge that they could be backing something that they themselves don't really condone. Someone getting called to the carpet for breaking rules of basic conduct isn't someone I would want to support, at least at that moment for those actions. If the behavior is really condoned support away and see if you can justify it to those offended. Maybe it can be forgiven but it's tough to justify when the real issue is being ducked. It's easy to assume a character, but sometimes real people are behind the monikers. You can be pretty sure of that when, like Mark, they are posting under their real names and list their affiliations. You spoke of a respected member and I don't doubt it, but he did have a disrespectful momment, and then simply condemned a forum and its members because he was called on it. It wasn't just one thing he said as you would see if you read the posts. And that's not even considering it was a planned and supported effort. Over here he disucssed a discount offer Mark made giving new meaning to the words "don't let a good deed go unpunished". It's nice to have something to support, and to support you, but ultimately we are all individuals and if adult, should be ready to be responsible for our actions. It's silly to think because we are part of a group how we interact doesn't mattter. It should matter to the group that would respect those actions if it is to have merit beyond it's own boundries.

  12. mOOn calling names? Hey that's no joke...but I'll have a beer.
  13. I sure don't speak for the forum. People go out and people feel bad. You were mocking that people were being nice. Naturally like all forums whatever any indivual posts speaks for the whole forum and is discussed among the members so they can talk with one voice before it is posted. I guess something got by all the scrutiny before something not nice got posted. It's a tough web and everyone looks out for their own. I just feel bad for the victims. Probably end up late listening to music so I don't have nightmares about it.
  14. Well golly, someone will probably get a real dressing down over AVS for for not being nice enough. It would be tough to dress them down for expressing HONEST OPINIONS.
