3.) Can I seal the conduits with a foam type substance? Will this damage the cables or cause any wierd conductance issues?

Be careful with what you use for spray foam. Some of it, like regular Great Stuff, will disolve some plastics. They do make some foam spray that is plastic freindly, it just costs more. You should be albe to find it at the larger home improvement stores.

  2. I think one other thing needs to be brought up about the Onkyo TX-SR500. It is a sub $300 receiver, NOT a Stage One. That said, I find it still has less hiss than some better stuff I have owned over the years. Plus, how often are you going to have it cranked up to 80% or higher listening levels? If it is the majority of the time you need more power.

Also as DrPyro stated, check your juice. Clean power does wonders. When I tested the other night it was plugged straight into an outlet. I tested again tonight plugged into my Panamax and it helped quite abit.

  3. OK, I couldnt wait. Something like this eats at me. I get hiss at 80+ too. Nothing really loud though. I can barely hear it from a couple of feet away. Also to note this is only when DVD is selected with digital in. I switch to 6 channel or any other source and the hiss is low enough that I have to press my ear up to my speakers at Max volume to hear the hiss. So basically it comes down to the Digital processing me thinks. < Also note that I am not useing Klipsch speakers right now. I have my ACI Sats hooked up which are rated 8ohms 89db 1w/1m. Also I had no source equipment hooked up. Just the receiver and speakers. >

I hope you can exchange it at your dealer. Good luck and keep us posted.

why in the blue HELL would Klipsch ship parts from the US of an A to MEHICO for assembly and then get them back!

Actually, EAR, you would be surprised to know how many companies do ship parts off to foreign lands to have them assembled and shipped back. It ends up still being cheaper than paying American labor rates.

  5. I would rather own Mexican made Klipsch than made in the USA Bose or KLH garbage.

That is not to say that there are not quality speakers made in the USA. (My Audio Concepts sats come to mind.)

We just have to face the fact that we are living in a global economy today.

Even the great American Iron, Harley Davidson, is full of foreign made parts.

  6. Muhahaha! Yes I am back.

I am surprised you didn't answer to my last post about a $250 or lower DVD player. You must be slipping.

Anyway, what I am looking for is a single cable with 6 male RCA on each end so I can hook up the new DVD player to the receiver nice and neat. I don't need it looking like Medusa is hiding out behind my rig! 9.gif I have looked at Monster Cable and didn't see anything.

  7. Thanks everyone for your input. And the new DVD player is.....Panasonic RP82.

It should be here before the weekend. Then I get to test it at night before I wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree. No more having to listen to the wife complain about sitting in front of a computer to watch movies. 9.gif

(BTW the DVD ROM I have in my system is a Toshiba. First and only choice for computer DVD.)

  8. I will be making a proper page so that all can see the glorious Duct Tape Mounting System pictures.

I am going to take a week of vacation from work this month to catch up on important stuff. Getting the web page(s) up is at the top of the list. I will post the link on page one of this thread and also here on page 17 (or 18 or 19).
