  1. What i am gathering is I should not but grey market where i could save a significant amount of money because I should screw my son's education in order to support the B&M and your childs education or aunt's wheelchair. Sorry can't do. His needs come first and foremost before someone elses child. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>ends quote I am sorry if I come off like I,m laying on a guilt trip (the word "guilty" was yours), it's America AND you have the absolute right to do what's in your own best interest. However, long term, I don't think it is not in the best interests of audio enthusiasts to dry-up the few places that offer a comparative demo. As for the morality side of it, I just could not go into a place to demo equipment that I'd know I'd be buying from a wharehouse.... ymmv....
  2. Will Sound Advice be keeping both lines or just Ref.?....How did Klipsch get BB's approval?...Hi-Fi Buys staying too?
  3. "Yes I do appreciate being able to audition components ....." ********************************** Look, I do not for one minute mind people finding another B&m TO purchase equipment that I took the time to demo for them. I understand and appreciate the negotiation process and I know that the other B&M could demo the equipment and do a similar job explaining the whys and wherefors and provide support after the sale....But the e-marketers are NOT providing the essential service of demonstration/comparison...if you don't need a demo then fine, I don't mind you shopping from people who don't provide one. But all the sob stories about saving for aunt angel's wheelchair is just a RATIONALIZATION! I am prepared on a daily basis to assist people in their quest for information and provide MANY useful services that the on-line retailer cannot, but will only site one; that is the opportunity to here good comparative demos which are critical in preserving the hierarcy of brands pushing the envelope of sound quality .....All I want is a chance, but operating a listening room has an overhead and if that is not worth paying for than stay out and quit wasting my time, you obviously don't need my services or store and it is hypocritical to pretend otherwise...
  4. I wonder if Klipsch is renegotiating because they're seeing the backlash here and hearing it from their ref dealers
  5. def. tech., B&W, Paradigm, Rotel and other quality audio mnfgrs are RABID about protecting their B&m's and as a result most of the better run custom instalation companies with showroom/retail storefronts are getting into these lines so they won't have to mess around with www.fatguyinabrooklynwharehouse.com.......eventually this is what all of the better audio shops will have to do to survive
  6. Bruinsrme, I agree about companies like Klipsch and Denon talking out of both sides of their mouth...they could easily solve this problem if they cared... However , I do think that the consumer should look at the eventuality of what will happen to quality audio if there is no way to compare sound...frankly I don't like to have others tell me what sounds best,; EVERYONE HAS AN AGENDA!! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL DEALER OR ALL WILL BE BOSE......
  7. Doug , quality is subject and exists as a matter of comparison to other similar products. Bottom line is that I think what mnfgrs of quality equip know is that without a place to do A/B demos, it is packaging, marketing, hype, buzz, "unsolicited "(yeah, right) testomonials, advertising, reviews, consumer reports (they love bose),etc. that will sell gear...I trust my own ears, but only as long as my audio memory allows (short time)...I need comarative demos or I too might convince myself that the less expensive one is really just as good (which it might be,but I'd like to hear for myself).....
  8. am sad because now the average customer won't be able to do a direct side-by-side with synergy and ref....Why does Klipsch need to take synergy out of dealers? I have seen many of these dealers compete on price with bb and step customers up to better gear because they have both to play...I'm sure that all the specialty retailers didn't want to loose that line...so , was this a decision by Klipsch to cr@* on the retailers that have made them what they are?...did Klipsch think that they couldn't supply enough to cover both bb and all the rest (if so they lack a dedication to invest in their own infrastructure)...was it bb who insisted on an EXCLUSIVE line? If it is the latter then the idea that bb is already dictating terms does not bode well for the company... ///////////////////////////////// Phil, a very well made argument...could you pleasew respond to this quote regarding pulling synergy out of everywhere and everything from Magnolia (part of bb?) and tweeter...
  9. Wanna have some fun?...Go ask one of their recent high school grads (my advice is to pick one without a nose-ring) if he can take a Yamaha receiver into a room and hook it up with Klipsch and bose speakers so that you can compare them in dts , dvd-a or sacd!...ask what demo material he'll be using and how many of each of these systems he has set up...what does he think is better...how many of his customers have expressed a preferance...what size room does he think both systems would be capable of handling...etc
  10. I'm sorry to say that is not the case with the Reference line. I have no intention of ever owning Reference line. Unless something like the 'extended Heritage' line reappears then I'm afraid the only place I'll be buying Klipsch is Ebay. **************END QUOTE I would guess that you like synergy even less, oh well, too bad, you just don't represent the "target demographic" that we are trying to capture..
  11. As long as Klipsch keeps pouring money into R&D for their high end product line, do you really care where they sell the low end to make those R&D dollars? {end of quote}........... No, if that were the case......but dollars to donuts it's a cah-out and run scheme.......
  12. I'M WONDERIN' WHAT THE GUY AT B.B. WILL SAY TOO.
