minimike
I bought a group of speakers which had twin horns. the smaller ones had the Frazier ( Atlas) drivers with Frazier # 333-300. I get no sound. I've disassembled them and checked the voice coils in their magnets directly with a feed from my stereo and get nothing. Anyone know what might be wrong? Blown voice coil? Visually it appears intact and not broken. Can I test the coil with a meter? Mike
Guest " "
most of the time you can do a basic check a using a digital meter. you can test for shorts within the coil, opens within the coil, and shorts between the coil and the metal magnet assembly. sometimes older drivers...espeacially drivers with terminal post that have screw together binding posts...have corrossion between the lobe that the coil wires are soldered to and the binding post assembly...which will show up as opens.
