dan4510
http://xover.sourceforge.net/ Text from the webpage describing this free software. It looks interesting, I am thinking of trying this. foo_dsp_xoveris a software digital crossover implementation that I have been workingon for a while in my spare time as a hobby. Itis a foobar2000 audio player plugin that implements this digitalcrossover to achieve active multi-amplification. Thissoftware needs to run on a WinXP PC equippedwith a multi-channel sound card (e.g. 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound card)feedingthe various voices of a multi-amplifier and loudspeaker activeconfigurationset-up. wwh
I have never tried the foo_dsp_ xover tool specifically, but I am currently running my Klipschorns with a similar setup using the BruteFIR filtering software on Linux. I'm guessing that foo_dsp_xover uses IIR filters. When / if you try this setup, let us know how it works out. As a general concept, there are many advantages to implementing the crossover in software -- you can do time alignment, per-driver attenuation, EQ (BruteFIR supports up to 128 bands of equalization), ... What sound card are you planning to use? Amplification and volume control? - Bill
dan4510
Bill, I honestly don't know about any of your questions. I ran across the source forge crossover when doing another search. Right now am finishing up a marchand crossover and want to play with that before I go a software route. But looks very interesting. I would have to build another computer, buy a soundcard, and figure out amp and control. Dan
