jim.mackey
Hi guys, We seem to be having a run on Klipsch subs atm i have followed the thread of rebuilding the power PCD board replacing all the resistors, checking diodes and replacing TR6 (mps92) also replacing output switching fets 730's. should the diodes and daic be replaced even if measured ok??? Our units are 240v . measuring TR5 near(bash pcb) which is updated to the to-92 package from manufacture tested fine. We use a variac with a light globe in line with one side of the ac to prevent total destruction. On turn on up to 160v ac seems ok but if i wind a little higher 170ish the output fets short causing the light to glow and producing a short across the rectifier until fets are removed. instructions from (ngen33r) work carried out, remove components and remove glue yes it does become conductive. had this issue with masuda tv's back in the day on their deflection coils. replace parts back in if test ok or new if faulty. resistors on 240v version measure 1.1k instead of 750 ohms replaced with 750 ohms as per instructions all other resistors replaced with metal film of the correct values as instructed. Is there any difference from the 110v to 240v on the PCD board that im not taking into consideration or is it that i haven't replaced all diodes on PCD pcb?
