bayer
Is there any bennifit by hooking up a sub with a sub cable and through the speaker input section?
dougdrake
Depends on what you want to do with the crossover in the sub. If hooked through the sub connection, the receiver/preamp does the crossover. If hooked to the speaker terminals, the sub's crossover would be used. This has its merits, but it depends on the situation. In my case, my sub is hooked to the speaker terminals because I like the greater control over the crossover point that I get with the sub's crossover than what my receiver gives me, like being completely variable rather than fixed. If you do this, be sure and say sub=NONE in your receiver/preamp setup or you won't get all the bass you should.
