Meat_Whistle Posted May 7, 2004 Share Posted May 7, 2004 My sub seems to have lost its thump. I have used it for eight years, so I am accustomed to it's sound. The power light is on; the woofer moves, but there isn't any good "thump" unless I turn the level knob to 10 (been running on 4 for ever). Phase adjustment doesn't help; lowpass adjustment doesn't either. Do the amps in these go bad? Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MrMcGoo Posted May 9, 2004 Share Posted May 9, 2004 The SW 12II uses a passive radiator which is to say that it is sealed and uses the PR like a port. Some 12IIs have lost their seal, so test for air leaks. Since the driver moves, a leak is a major possibility. If you cannot locate an air leak, then turn the power off and gently move the active driver in and out. Does it bind or grate? Let us know how it goes.
