sesquim Posted September 19, 2001 Share Posted September 19, 2001 I have a compaq 5711 model computer and i went to ther site to update my sound driver, its an onboard sound card, i think it was a ESS solo but after installing the new driver when i play winamp it says "MMSYSTEM002 A device ID has been use that is out of your system" what do i do to get my sound back? AM i SCREWED?ahhhhhhhh. i cant listen to my klipsch anymore i will never ever update anything again! THANKS SOO MUCH IF U SOLVE MY PROBLEM! They may have a patch or process that may fix it this. ------------EDIT ------------------ Microsoft website says the cause for this error is: This occurs if you do not have a sound card installed." ----------------------------------- How did you do the uninstall and what exactly did the OS reinstall? I would review the sound card installation documentation for some clues as to what might be amiss.
