ajcllc
I have two Forte I's, two Forte II's, two Quartets, and am about to get an Academy. What would be a really good subwoofer or subwoofers to match this set-up? My room is about 14'x10'. Thanks
feersum dreadnot
SVS is very popular, I have one in a 14' x 15' room (a PB-12 plus 2), and think it offers the best bass for the $. see www.svsubwoofers.com, they are only available on line. ajcllc
I have it narrowed down to the SVS PB12-Plus/2 and the Klipsch RSW-15. Any opinions between each?
kjohnsonhp
There are a few options to consider: 1) DIY - you can assemble an excellent subwoofer for under $500. See GR-Research for a kit. This would be an easy project--especially if you don't want a fancy vaneer. Your room doesn't seem to big either. This may be the best value depending on your time, effort and desire for looks. 2) Sub-only direct brands: The big two are SVS and HSU. SVS tubes or boxes -- very popular and great HT impact. The other big name in direct subs is HSU and Outlaw has a competitor but not a full family. 3) Klipsch - since you own klipsch speakers they get their own number. 4) Known for just subs: REL, Velodyne, etc. 5) many, many more since most speaker companies also make subs. NOTE: The Onix R-DES add-on to any sub allows you to smooth out the frequency response...my sub, placement and room produced a "mountain" looking graph which RDES flattened. ajcllc
I just settled on an SVS PB12-Plus/2. I am really looking forward to it and cannot wait to hear it considering all of the positive reviews!
