DrWho
I know you're new, but what are your long term goals? For many of us this hobby is a continuous progression of always upgrading...but the one thing that rarely changes are the speakers. So what I'm trying to get to is if you're looking at seriously getting into this hobby, then I would highly recommend starting off by spending your budget on a killer pair of mains - and leave the surround sound and all that for later after funds have replenished. In other words...make all your purchases now work towards your desired end goal. Purchasing something now that you plan on selling later is only going to cost you money in the long run. That said, I am a huge fan of the current synergy line up...it is by far the best bang for the buck in the entire industry. If you can swing the funds, I can guarantee you won't be dissatisifed with the entire F3 system. However, because you mentioned that you like the reference series, I would be a bit hesitant going with the synergy lineup because you'll probably find yourself with buyer's remorse later on down the road....and that means you'll be inclined to sell off the synergy to move into the reference line. In fact, it seems you're already exhibiting remorse simply by considering the synergy system. We also need to be specific about your budget and what reference or synergy packages you could end up with. I would actually put the F3 system on par with anything from the R35 line and lower...so figure out your budget and what kind of systems you're looking at and look at your long term goals and it should become clear what you need to do. Colin
My lord, In your profile, please specify your system: # of channels now and planned, amps, subs, room size, acoustic treatments, EQ, music source (iPod, PC, DVD, etc.), your age, music and movie preferences, percent of movie versus music listening, preferred volume level, musical instrument experience, must have features, etc! That way, the thoughtful posters here can provide answers tailored to your situation, not just simply spout off their preferences for their own situation.
