Surround me with sound
I recently bought some rs-35's. I am putting one on each side and two hanging from the vaulted ceiling. Is there a bracket that anyone recommends, especially for the ceiling mount? Thanks
darylomer12
So just to understand you correctly, you have a total of four rs-35's? You are going to use two for surround duty and the other two for surround back duty? Just curious why you want to ceiling mount? Anyway, i use the omnimount 10.0 for wall mounting. Not sure, but i think this website will have a variety of mounts for ceiling. Good luck.... http://www.standsandmounts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=3598 Here is a picture of my rs-35's with the omnimount..... Surround me with sound
That is correct. Two for surround duty and the other two for surround back duty. This completes my 7.2 system. I have to mount on the ceiling because there is not a wall in the back. My living room and kitchen are one big room. Thanks
Surround me with sound
Do I have to drill holes in the speaker or will it mount with the threaded hole in the speaker?
darylomer12
No, you don't have to drill any holes in the speaker. It comes with two or three different sizes of thread so you don't have to worry about ruining any of your speakers. Here is a better pic of the mount.... Surround me with sound
Thanks so much for the picture. Now I understand how those mounts work. You have been very helpful!
darylomer12
No problem and good luck with your setup. What speakers are you running up front? I am looking forward to seeing some pics when you are all done.... Daryl
Paul
Well for starts the omni is good for the walls,If you are running rears you can always go for some custom RS stands in the proper height for the rears, here are the ones that i custom make for klipsch rs series,People like them and buy alot of them,I just used a aa battery to lift up the speaker to show you the under part.Actually i use these rs25 models shown for 2 rear centers,I have a large main sound room to fill,
Surround me with sound
I am running RF35 fronts, RC35 center with an RW12 sub. All powered by a Yahama rx-v1600. I will post pictures when it is finished. This system is replacing an old Carver (the receiver) and JBL L-100 speakers. The JBL's I bought in 1976. I love the sound of the Klipsch. Surround me with sound
I like the stands but in my house they won't work. For the rear the only room I have in on the ceiling. If I looked at the omnimount correctly, it should work on the ceiling as well. Thanks
darylomer12
I would use these for the ceiling mount. I know those speakers don't weigh twenty pounds, but the last thing you want is for those speakers to come crashing down. This is just my opinion ..... http://www.standsandmounts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1763
Surround me with sound
I agree with the stronger mount for the ceiling but are the threads the same size to fit the speaker. I have been looking at all the omni mounts and it seems that as they get stronger the bolt diameter and thread count change.
darylomer12
I am 99% sure they have the same size thread in the heavier mount. When i ordered my omnimounts, they came with two or three different thread sizes. If anything, the wood screws that go into the studs would get bigger. Hope everything works out for ya.......Daryl
ThomasN
I had the same question about wall mounting the RS-35's. Is that Omnimount strong enough? it has I think a 10lb Max. How long have you had yours up? Any signs of stress to the wall?
lo123
Paul - did you say you made these stands? I have a pair of RS-35s (unopened, new boxed units) that I left in the box and went with in-wall R-5800's instead. Rear family room wall mount, side walls are not setup for speaker mounting. Anyway, wife was tickled that I did not permanently mount the RS-35s in our family room, but now I'm stuck with the new RS-35s. Plan B is to run wiring to wall plates on the side walls down low and bring out the RS-35s for movies - hence, I need some stands. What is the height of your stands? Surround me with sound
I checked with Klipsch support and with omnimount and both stated that the 10 lb rating is plenty to hold the rs-35.
