Surround me with sound
I recently purchased a Dlink DSM 520 Media Lounge Digital Audio Receiver. It streams all of my music (wireless over 802.11g) to my home theater. It works OK but its biggest down fall is that it puts all of the music in alphebetical order. Many albums need to be played in the order the songs were recorded. I can make play lists on the unit but it is very slow and cumbersome ( have over 300 CD's on my computer and the play lists are created one song at a time). If I use its supplied software and make a play list there, when it is transfered to the unit it again puts them in alphebetical order. I have talked to tech support, somewhere in India, and they are not any help at all. I have decided to return the Dlink Media lounge and look for something else. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this type of unit? Thanks for your help.
whamo
Is there a place in menu where you can browse by album? I am not familiar with your unit but I use a Roku soundbridge and I can browse by album, artist, composer,or genre. It plays the albums in their chronological order as well. I would also like to add that the software I use to control the Roku is a third party application that I had to find on the Roku forum. If I were you I would see if there's a forum for Dlink and you might gleen some helpful tips there. I would recommend the Roku but I haven't heard any of the others like the Squeezebox . There is a learning curve involved with it though but if you get one from say Best Buy you could always take it back. Plus it's only $200. Good luck to ya, Mark
Surround me with sound
I have tried every possible option with the dlink media lounge. I did return it to best buy. I have been looking at the roku m1000. The dlink will always sort alphebetically no matter if it is by album genre, artist, playlists I have made on the computer, does not seem to matter. If I understand you correctly, the roku will not change the original order of the songs?
whamo
That's correct when you select the album it will play it in the original order. Mark

Mick Bell
I have two Roku Soundbridge units (M1000 and M2000) and love them. I use them with Windows Media Players and record in WMA Lossless. Haven't used any of the other similar devices but I really enjoy the Roku. Mick
Surround me with sound
Most of the feed back I have received about the Roku is positive. I do believe I will buy one. I have heard that third party software is needed. Do you run special software to make it work or can I acheive good results just my sharing my "My Music" files in windows? Mick Bell
No need to purchase third party software. I use Windows Media Player. You can also use Itunes which you can download for free. There are any number of other media players which will work with Roku products. Mick
