BigBundyTime
Does anyone have any recomendations for racks that they have or like? I am looking for a rack that I can build into a closet in my basement (currently under construction). It will have easy access from the back, so I don't need a fancy slide out or anything like that. Thanks for any suggestions.
DrWho
I know you're having someone build that customized entertainment center - you might inquire to having him build you a custom rack too...or you can do it yourself. It's really quite easy. You can get all the parts you need from http://www.partsexpress.com Here's a link to where I got all the following links (towards bottom of right menu): http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?WebPage_ID=27 Pre-built options: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=slim+rack+frame Rack rails: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=rail Shelves: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=shelf Spacers: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=panel Power: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=outlet Drawers: http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=drawer Lacing Bars (cable management): http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?webpage_id=3&CATID=46&ObjectGroup_ID=335&filter=lacing+bars I'm not sure if you're going for the "rack look" or not, but I'm sure there are ways to dress these things up if you wanted. I kinda prefer the industrial look, but everyone is different. The nice thing about rack rails is its completely customizeable and easy to expand in the future. I know I just listed stuff from Partsexpress, but you can find rack stuff from all over the place. It just takes a quick google search. http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage.cfm?WebPage_ID=27'>
DrWho
I also just came across this website in another thread: http://www.standsandmounts.com/
BigBundyTime
Thanks. That is pretty much what I have looked into so far. I think I want to have it look industrial too. I was thinking about mounting something like this flush with the wall and dressing it up with some custom covers like these (although they are a pretty pricey): http://www.lashen.com/vendors/map/Rack_Accessories/rsh/Default.asp I plan to do the install and build this myself, so I am trying to decide how best to do this. If you have pictures of how yours looks, I would appreciate taking a look at it when you post the other ones we discussed. Also, I want to have this on the wall under the stairs, so it causes a bit of a conflict with flairing the main speaker enclosures out too far and still acomodating this. ben.
Have a look at Middle Atlantic as well. Have them or find a dealer to send you a print catalog. They have an incredibly broad line. There's plenty of times when I would be specing a sound system and flipping through their book would trigger a good idea for a work area. They're not so good at the cosmetics, but for function they've got it covered. For home use, I'd say most of their stuff can be DIYed for a significant savings if you're a bit handy.
