I have experience (on another forum) trying to sell to forum members through the "for sale" part of the forum--and it was a disaster. Many forum members expressed interest, wanted to schedule a time come to my location see the items--but no one would put down a deposit to hold the goods. So "everyone" expected to be able to make an appointment--and no-one wanted it sold before they got here--but I was caught in the middle trying to assure I (and the items) were available for viewing. I decided I would never do that again. eBay therefore makes it very easy. I'll answer questions, send additional photos, etc--but the money is out-in-the-open so everyone knows where they stand.
