I couldn't hear much difference between the 3's and 5 (not 5ii's) Therefore, I doubt it there will be any audible difference in most source material between the 5's and the 5ii's. The 5's will go a bit lower than the 3's but if you set them to small, it won't matter much. If you buy 5ii's over 5's it will be a peace of mind purchase more than anything else. Phsyically, they both use the same drivers and enclosures. The main difference is in the internal monster cable in the ii's. Unless you are playing at near max output, the differences probably won't kick in.
