Bagman57
Due to storms [li] passing through my area last Sunday the power kept going on and off numerous times. During one of those cycles there was a loud POP. [] Well that POP turned out to be the power supply to my ProMedia 5.1 Ultra system. The damage that was visible is a blown fuse, a blown MOV and a large square yellow resistor that is burnt on one side from the blown MOV. I replaced the MOV with one out of an old PC power supply. When I plugged in the power cord the fuse blew so I have more damage and a closed short somewhere else. Crap I thought to myself. [^o)] I've been fooling with it just the last couple of days. I just noticed the top on one of the large can capacitors on the second power supply board is swelled up slightly and spongy. A friend who works on electronics said the bridge rectifier on the second power supply board may be blown (shorted out) too. I pulled the yellow resistor and couldn't get any reading on it. I'll check the rectifier next. Anyway I started this post to see if anyone has had this same problem and if anyone knows where a good place to get replacement parts from. I've looked on a bunch of sites but end up with something unrelated and frustrated. [*-)]
drcigg
Check this post http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/76749/757010.aspx#757010 and also this one http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/91000/920651.aspx#920651 Here are a few places to try. www.digikey.com http://www.partsexpress.com Radioshack Shipping can be over 5 dollars which is too much in my book. You may want to checkout your local radio shack or frys to see if they have what you need.
