scooby guy
Hi guys Thanks in advance for your help. Time for a receiver upgrade. HT and music use are 50/50. Room is 14' deep (12' listening distance) x ~30' wide. 10' ceiling. I currently have an 8 or 9 year old Sony receiver (STR-DE925) 5 x 110w. Due to my odd media center arrangement, my speaker mains (L/R) are RB-35's coupled with an RC-7 center speaker. Also have an RSW-12 sub My rears are two Polk RC80i's in ceiling and would like to add two more in-ceiling speakers to get 7.1. I am open to recommendations for in-ceiling speakers too. Currently considering Denon 3808, 2809, Yamaha RX-V1800, 1900 or ? My bidget limit is ~$1500, but would like to spend less. Thank you!! Bill H.
Welcome, Of the two choices I would go with Yamaha 1900 Model. You also might consider just staying with a 5.1 system due to your room configuration..................just my 2c's................ Bottom line is I hope you get the chance to try out both units to see which one, 1. fits your budget, and 2. is eaiser to use. Good Luck on the Quest. Post some Pics when you get setup............Regards Bill
dougdrake
If you're open-minded, check out the factory refurbished Onkyo TX-NR906S for $999 (MSRP $2199). These disappear fast. http://shoponkyo.com/products.cfm?group_id=1&subcat=Receiver
Eddie2u
I would give the Pioneer Elite SC-05 or SC-07 a listen too. I went from a Older Yamaha to a Pioneer SC-07 and I have no regrets.I managed to get the SC-07 a little more than your budget limit but I hear the SC-05 sounds great too.
