  1. Damping the horns is good if you experience the 'acoustic death ray' moving your head in front of them. This can be caused by the metal horns ringing. I used 1/2 to 3/4 inch coating on the outside. Others recommend 5# per horn. It smoothed out the sound very well. The new squawker diaphrams also did wonders. New Lambda woofers still breaking in, but, very promising Hard to believe these are the same speakers I got a few years ago off rec.audio.tubes They were a bit harsh on arrival... now they are authoritive, not nagging. Happy Ears! Al
  2. I used Plumber's Putty on my heresy mid and tweeter horns. New info says this a possibly bad practice due to solvents in some putties. I have'nt had any problems, but ... Modelling clay is safer. Happy Ears! Al
  3. If you rebuild all the drivers and replace all the crossover components and they don't sound any better, they didn't need any work I have recently replaced squawker diaphragms on my old heresy set. The old ones were functional, but, the new ones are superb. Now I am breaking in new woofers. Lambda SBP12 from Nick McKinney. The original drivers had been replaced by ElectraVoice 12W. The new ones are very fine. I just use my ears to tell me if I am making progress. Technology is just what I use to get the sound I love. Listen and judge for yourself. No rules
  4. 1. What Heritage speakers have you owned, currently own, or want to own? heresy 99U053/4 2. What was your age when you first purchased a Heritage series loudspeaker? 53 3. What is your current age? 56 4. Why did you choose Heritage loudspeakers over another Klipsch model? they were there 5. If you currently own some Heritage loudspeakers, and could purchase some more Klipsch speakers(new or used), which ones would you purchase? Why? crazy for speakers 6. Do you think the upcoming Jubilee should become part of the "Heritage" line, since it was also designed by PWK? no comment
  5. my old heresy (dunno year, 99U053/4) fix em ups: new squawker diaphragms - $339. (and change) bargain! Plumbers Putty on outsides of horns, 1/2" to 3/4" approx. - cost not determined Lined inside and edges of back panel with big piece of felt. Small (<0.1 uF 600V) PP bypass of original motor run oil can caps - two caps may measure better than one. I bought these a few years back from some guy on the 'net for about $200. driven to fine sounds by my homebrew 2A3 SE amps and SACD
