  1. Has anyone ever refinished a speaker cabinet before? My KLF's are cherrywood and I would really like to get them black to match the rest of my HT. Ideas? Is it even possible? Do I want to mess with the factory finish?
  2. I have the KLF-30's for my fronts. They rock. I would think you'd want to swap your rears and fronts if you got 30's. You'd want the KLF-30's for your fronts and the Forte's for your rears. Nothing against your Forte's, but the Legends would perform much better as fronts. If you go with the KLF-20's then I'd say just experiment with the two scenarios. Try the 20's in front, and then in the rear to see what suits you best. It's always a preference thing with sound, ya know? Let us know what you end up doing. I think you'd be absolutely stoked with the KLF-30's though ...
  3. Truthe of the matter is it's really up to you where you place your rear speakers. Personally I have mine toward the back and on the side. Similarly the people at Dolby say that is good placement. Notice that real theaters do the same. Here are a couple of good URL's for reference: http://www.dolby.com/ht/Guide.HomeTheater.0110.html#s3.2 http://www.zinszer.com/ht-speakers004.htm
  4. A shot of the front of the stage ... I haven't noticed any timbre problems or sound differences between the legends and the reference series. They sound great together ...
  5. If it's DVD music you are looking for, get the Eagles Hell Freezes Over dvd with DTS soundtrack. It's amazing. Another good one is the Eric Clapton-One more car, One more rider DVD. It's encoded with DTS as well.
  6. Top Gun? c'mon. If you can take an array of cd's. Take something more modern as the newer cd's have a way better recording. Some of my favs: 311-Transistor, Loreena McKennitt-The Visit, Enya-Watermark, Rage Against the Machine-Self Titled, Sting-Greatest Hits, and for good measure take some Jazz, Big Band, or any orchestral pieces to get a good taste of the Klipsch horns. Happy hunting.
  7. One of my friends has an Earthquake sub, the MKIV12. It POUNDS. He got it for a really good deal, though I'm not sure of the specific price. He has it in a corner of his room in the basement and it literally shakes the house. Very rich and deep base. Impressive for just a 12. I'm sure if money is an issue that the 10" will be impressive as well. They remind me alot of the sunfire subs. Personally I like the RSW-15 sub. That is what I have in my HT. It really moves air. It is the best sounding sub that I've heard yet.
  8. Anyone looking for some killer concert dvd to test your HT on, check this dvd out. http://www.mymusic.com/product_dvd.asp?curr=0&muzenbr=100003079 Has some of clapton's best stuff and is one of the most well recorded concert dvd's that I've heard. FYI.
  9. That's hilarious! I've always known Klipsch speaks were power efficient, but I've also been influenced by the "more power is better" mantra. I must say my legends sing very nicely powered by my 3802. Thanks for the post...
  10. Shapeshifter, thanks for the input. I contacted Mike, we'll see what he thinks about swapping. The mix between the Legends and the RC-7 hasn't been noticeably bad together though. We'll see how this turns out.
  11. Mike. I have an RC-7 center channel that is fairly new. I'm thinking that I would do better with your center channel and you would do better with mine. I have KLF-30 Legends for my fronts and 'Shapeshifter' was telling me that the KLF C-7 may be a better center channel for my setup. Wanna swap? I'm located in Utah too by the way. My name is Ben.
  12. Yeah? thanks for the post. I'll probably end up sticking with the Legends.
  13. Anyone running the Rotel RMB1095 amp to some Klipsch speaks or any other comparable component amp? Wondering in particular how the KLF-30's handle high power amps. Thoughts?
  14. Nice. Thanks for your input. The first time I ever heard the KLF-30's I just about died. They have such a beautiful sound. I've been stoked ever since. I find listening to old cd's that I haven't bothered with a ton of fun again.
  15. Has anyone made this upgrade? Is it worth doing? I really enjoy my KLF's but have heard good things about the RF-7's. Thoughts?
