Got the titanium tweeter diaphragms today from Bob. Installing only took about 15 min.
Huge improvement - do it!
Much smoother and almost all of the Klipsch "cupped hands, megaphone like" shouting is gone!
Well worth the money.
Also got the crossover caps today.
Not quite as quick to install those :-)
Put 2 of the sonic caps on the board and laid the 3rd one on top of the first two caps and secured with hot glue.
I didn't do the woofer cap as the ones provided were axial leads and required a smaller one in parallel to get the required value.
Didn't see a good way to install those so I left it alone for now.
At first, the highs were bright and over emphasized for about a half hour until the caps settled in, then it mellowed out.
I noticed a big improvement in the focus of the center image, it's very solid now.
Also in the width & depth of the soundstage.
I'm getting sounds several feet past the outer edges of the speakers now, where before all the sound was trapped between the speakers.
Wasn't sure at first, but it looks like the new caps were really needed.
Also installed new Cardas binding posts to replace the stripped out plastic junk that was on there.
Had to space the board away from the terminal cup to clear them but all it took were some nylon spacers & longer screws.
So nice to have a firm and tight connection!
