If your amplifier power supplies were properly designed you would not hear the pops.
JJK
OK the amps are Dynaco and McIntosh. What did they both do in the designing that was wrong? Remember, this just started happening.

I asked this question a while back and the overall response was NO GO. It would seem to make sense ( standing waves ) but I don't think anyone ever has taken readings. If they are open try it in just one and then A/B it. I am very interested.

Sounds like dirty switch contacts, does the switch still make noise if flipped slowly ?
Moisture behind the walls causes this sometimes but it is nothing to worry about unless your tunes are cranked way up.
3 different fans 3 different rooms? The bathroom does get a lot of moiture from the shower. I have a large McIntosh MC2300 puting out 300 watts and the pop is quite loud. I just don't want that or my tube amps to be hurt.

What is happening? This never did this before or I just never noticed it. Any idea what could be causing it?

Don't expect deep bass from the RF3's. I don't even really feel they should be consider in the reference line. I had a pair and got rid of them quickly feeling as you do.
If you plan on keeping them get a good sub. They were way to bright for my tastes.

JJK,
One has to understand the physical laws and constants that exist in our Milky Way Galaxy. It snows when it wants and how much it wants. It rains when it wants and how much it wants. It gets cold when it wants and as much as it wants. It gets warm when it wants and as much as it wants. Meteors crash into the Earth when they want. Chill out man, the kids are having a ball.

Very odd reply seeing that the general forum is the place to discuss these types of topics.

We got dumped on here in Pittsburgh also. My Trees all broke and power and water out. I also love Global warming.

Roger, thank you for clearing that up. Being Retarded ( I like to call myself metally challenged ) I am a little slow.

It is funny...I have read this post before and I just spotted a pair of 19s in a local pawn shop today...I did not give it much though and then laughed when I saw this thread ressurected from way before I was a member
What was the cost for the pair?
-
I have done all of those things. That being stated what is your reply?

Who wants a pair of '79 raw birch Corns for $450? Pick up only in Delaware's eastern shore. Replaced grills with beautiful like new laser-logo versions. Someone give me a reason to buy the Khorns!
I live in Pittsburgh and may be interested but I don't want to drive. ;(

Brad O, PM sent on HF Tweeter added to 19.
Even worse, a poster might of heard both, but not at the same time in the same place, so how subjective is their memory? Unless two devices are A/Bd, I feel most opinions hold as much promise as urine in a paper sack.
As I stated early on, I currently own BOTH and both are set up to run at optimum so what am I missing here? How is my opinion in this matter like URINE?[*-)]

Funny that this would come back up? The thoughts of previous posts are right on. I still to date have both speakers and like them for thier strengths and weaknesses. The K horn seems to have a wood sound to the bass and goes much lower. The Altecs drop off around 38HZ but are smooth....... so your choice listen to them both you can't loose!

I knew that Crites could do it I just really want to do it myself. I will however check with him tomorrow.
Thanks

Has anyone rebuilt these or looked into modifyinig them. I want to do this myself. Is there a schmetatic of the crossover where I could replace existing values. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I recently gave a pair of Klipsch RF-3 II's, which I had purchased from Hudson Valley Noah, to my oldest friend as a 50th birthday gift. I paired it with a Pioneer SX-550 receiver that I had picked up on the 'Bay. He is a musician and music teacher with an extensive jazz collection and I knew with a couple of young kids, he wasn't exactly pumping money into a rig. Here was his comments from an email I just got.
Let me just say that by FAR it's the best stero I've ever had. The speakers are so amazing that if you turn the volume to about 3, the sound is huge, crisp, and full. Sometimes we play music for the kids and the 4 of us dance around in the family room. The Pioneer amp is like new!!. Thanks again - it's spectacular.
I don't know who is happier, him or me. Klipsch speakers seem to have that effect on people.
Once again Scripture is proven true Act 20:35 latter half Christ said: "There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving" Nice story, thanks

There was a post on flow charts and the difference they made with ports a while back with the CF4. Ricci have you played with the ports? If so do you have a preference?
I will PM you.

Read this post and tell me what you think. Looks like these were made right after the change making them a series1 ver. 2. Dont the magnets in the picture look like the NEO's? the clear wiring should be a give away also.

Here is a picture of the ports. The wire inside is also Clear not colored red, black green etc.

Odd enough the ports are 2 3/4 inches. I am now wondering if they are series 3. Hmm..... Why if they were the earlier version with code would they have the small ports?
My amps make a loud "POP" when any bathroom / kitchen / Bedroom fan is switched on or off???
