  1. I think if you get a warm amp to drive your Rf7's you will really come to appreciate them. Also I know many disagree but there is a lenghty breakin period. I also am in the market to upgrade, I am looking at Rotel 1080, 1090, Amp. I have also heard that a tube amp to drive the horns and solid state to drive the woofers is a beautiful match. A Klipsch tech told me that a 40watt tube and 200-250 watt soild state for the bass. Hey let me know what you decide.

  2. I purchased the amp from acc4less 6 months ago. I do not think you can go wrong for the price. I am driving my Klipsch RF7 towers with it and the rest of my system. The sound is warm and appealing. You also have the manf. warrenty which is great. Hey steeler fan where do you live Pittsburgh?? The output is 150W x 5 and it has adjustments for THX levels. Anytyhing else let me know.

  3. I just spoke with Kilpsch the other day about the wood venure on the seakers. It only needs to be wiped down with a damp cloth. All that the speaker is made of is venure laminated over wood. Many think it is real wood but the manuals never say that. They say real wood "finish" or "wood venure" none truley are (Oak, Cherry or Ash). The grain Klipsch uses is so well defined most would say it was real wood. Hope this helps.

  4. I have had my RF7's now for 1 1/2 yrs. I no the rest do not agree but to me there was a definite brek-in period. The time span seems like abot 1 week or about 45 hrs. listening time. These speakers are also very sensitive to your amp selection. I started with a Yamaha and found the sound to be way to bright. Tested NAD and Marantz. Finalized on the Marantz and boy what a difference. As the others have stated positioning is also improtant but not as important as the amp. I hear things on recording with these speakers that I never heard on others. Give it a little time and I think you will be a fan.

  5. I have listened to all the current Klipsch series and the Refernce series is by far the best ( my opinion ). I just recently purchased a set of KG 5.5 and these are very good sounding speakers, not as much bass as the RF but close. The greatest thing is that these are now going for around 300 - 400 which is a great deal. If you are looking to upgrade check these out. Hey I have to admit the copper color RF drivers are cool.3.gif

  6. The Klipsch Tech. told me to run a 40 watt tube amp to the horns and 150 -250 watt to the woofers with a solid amp. He also stated to bi-amp the setup for the best sound out of my RF7's. Does any one have a setup like this? What recomendations do any of you have?

  7. Let me be more specific. I am running a Marantz 5 channel amp with 150 watts per channel Bi-amped to the RF7s. 1 Channel to the center speaker. According to a SPL chart I saw I think somewhere on the Klipsch site, to generate a SPL of 117 with a speaker sensitivity of 102 which RF7's have it should take 32 watts. I am clipping my amp at 107 on my SPL meter with a 150 watts. Q. is how could you ever clip an amp when the speakers are this sen.? Should the SPL readings be taken at the speaker (they would be much higher)? I have heard that the horns give Klipsh the high rating but truley the dual 10" woofers eat up power. I really need help because I am baffled. On monday I am contacting Klipsch & Marantz for their yhoughts.14.gif14.gif
