I just got started in all this HT stuff. Purchased the AVIA dvd and set up my 51" RPTV and sound using the RS sound meter and test patterns. Big difference in the picture and no way could I set up sound w/o the meter. I'd watch the meter move around and couldn't tell any difference in soundlevel. OA results in sound and picture were outstanding. Highly recommended.Being new to all this I'd be interested in hearing some feedback on some of the equipment below. I'm very happy with everything now, especially my Klipsch speakers since I took back the (ahem...) BOSE AM12 system (thank god for their 90 day return policy).

I'm new to this, but I've got to agree with KJohnsonHP and Theear. The sound is much better at home with my new system than in the theaters. Besides they don't let you in theaters dressed like "that." Actually since getting my system I didn't realize how important "sound" is to the movie experiance and what I've been missing while watching VHS on a 25in TV. Progressive DVD in 16:9 with surround sound is sweet.

Matrix Reloaded at IMAX
in General Klipsch Info
Posted
Stantard theaters use 35mm film format and project this small image onto a screen. True IMAX films use a 2 1/4" by 2 1/4" format which is about 4x the area of a 35mm image. This image is larger and in proportion magnified less than a similar 35mm film image when projected on the screen. This results in a superior image in clarity and detail. Think of it as the difference between a regular broadcast image and progressive scan DVD. This is why when your sitting watching an IMAX film you feel like your there. The MATRIX will be in standard 35mm format projected onto a larger screen so even though image is larger it's not any clearer. I've seen both and its still fun to watch regular movies on a larger screen. I hope this helps.
