  1. Hi, I am trying to find a shipping company that will pack and ship pair of K-horns from MD to Seattle. What's the best way to approach this without having to get a second mortgage? Thanks for your input. Ki
  2. Trying to explore true mulichannel setup without a video for MCH SACD and DVD-A music. Which would be a better fit for MCH music knowing that the center K-horn would have to have a False Corner but would be identical to L and R or a sigle Belle that could stand alone and would not need a false wall? My dedicated music room has short wall 17' that turns to 19' around the middle and long wall is 25'. I have a pair of '71 K-horns againt the short wall. I plan to get a pair of Belles or another K-horns for the rear in due time. Thanks for your input. Regards, Ki
  3. Now that I have been fully infected by the Klipschorn magic for the last two weeks, I am ready to make further investments by getting a premium finished K-horns and a Belle for the center channel. If you know of a pair of nice K-horns and Belles (single or a pair) for sale, please let me know. I am prepared to drive up to or close to two days from Seattle to pick them up. (Now that's a serious investment...or an illness.) Attached photo is my current '71 model flanked by now decommissioned Quad ESL-63s. I need to build false corners to improve the bass. I do appreciate your help in locating the Horns. Regards, Ki 206-409-3972
  4. DR. BILL: If you placed a subwoofer in a corner, should it be "toed-in" like a Klipschorn, and if so, should it fire outward or into the corner. Or should it be squared to the corner. Again, should it face the front or side? Or perhaps it doesn't matter at all? After years of wrestling with subs for pannel speakers (Maggies, Quads, and etc.), I have few thoughts to offer. As one of the poster had stated, bass signal below ~40Hz is non-directional. However, smooth integration with main speakers (in this case K-horns with such a high efficiency) would be a challenge. Having them in the corner or other room boundaries would produce max output but further away you go from your main source, there's timing issues that may be a bigger problem than lack of volume. I am not sure yet but K-horns do go down to ~35Hz then the crossover point should be around 40Hz at highest slope possible (24dB/Oct) and play over the main speakers. The best main/sub integration I have experienced is Quad ESL-63s and Gradient SW-63subs, playing the main speakers high passed at 100Hz and having the Gradient subs physically located right below it.
  5. Does the cabinet needs to be flush with the corner walls? At the moment, I have them toed out to point to my listening position directly, leaving some gap on one side of the wall on both speakers. Ki
  6. It is raw oak plywood with no final finish... Ki
  7. Very wise advice... Thanks. After trying out Quad ESL, Magnapans, B&Ws, JBL, Merlins, and countless others, I am just getting used to the K-Horn sound and having fun. But my tweaky side wants to explore options... in due time, I guess. So, what would be the major sonic differences in Circa 1971 K-Horns and 2003 new K-Horns? Thanks, Ki
  8. Hi, My very first K-Horns have model number K. C. FR and serial number 3J513. They look and "smell" old... but do sound nice especially in dynamics. Can you tell me when they were made? Do they have the Alnico magnets? Probably asked and answered many times... how is it different from the latest K-Horns? I do see the crossover is model AA. Can it be upgraded and how much will the new crossovers cost? Sonic improvements from upgrades? Thanks, Ki
