  1. I own Fortes in good condition that I paid $400 for and really like them. I could have waited and probably found some cheaper but with shipping or driving(gas money) to go get them, add paypal costs it would have came close to what I paid.

I have seen them go for $200 up to 550 and probably have gone higher. Right now on Audiogon is a pair that was $400 and now is $350 only cause the owner is unemployed and needs to sell quick. There is also a pair for $525 on Audiogon.

Ebay has a pair "buy it now" price of $400.

Audiogon's blue book average price for Fortes is $530 but you can find them cheaper but probably not mint. So after hearing the Fortes you have to decide if you are willing to pay $500 for them.

You can always try and talk the price down.

  2. What equipment do you use with the Fortes? If you want better sound a equipment upgrade may be in order.

If your equipment is not the issue and Cornwalls are too big then Chorus IIs would be your next step or Forte IIs.

Do your Fortes have the risers? Try raising the speakers 2-3 inches with something, plywood and see if that helps the sound.

When I had La Scalas I built 6 1/2 inch risers for them and it helped.

  3. IMHO.

So it's all subjective but to say that heritage is better across the board is non-sense and has been proven otherwise on many occasions.

I did say IMHO, In My Humble Opinion. I did not say that anyone who prefers RF 7 or RF 83 are wrong.

Obviously you really enjoy your RF 7s and prefer them to KHorns and other Heritage speakers that is your opinion and I'm not trying to change your mind or bash the Reference series.

Also if people have gone from Heritage to Reference then that is great and I'm happy they are happy but does not change the fact I prefer the Heritage over the RF 7( I will give you the RF 7 will sound better than the Heresy) . I have not heard the RF 83s so I can not honestly say I like the Heritage line better.

I have heard Heritage speakers, KHorns, La Scalas, Cornwalls in systems that sounded very bad but I have also heard them in systems that sounded outstanding! I have also heard RF 7s in systems that sounded outstanding and have heard them in systems that sounded very bad. Both are great lines of Klipsch speakers but I still prefer the Heritage and I am only speaking for me.[:D]

  4. True but they still look vintage. I prefer more modern looking speakers.

    LOL!!

True speaker beauty is in the eye of the beholder! As is the speaker sound, everyone likes different things.

I have not had a chance to hear the RF 83s but did hear the RF 7s which were very good but still think the Heritage line is better IMHO. That is why Klipsch has been smart in developing different lines of speakers at different target markets.

The best thing about the "modern looking" Reference line is the copper colored woofers which gives them a very nice look. You just want to take off the grill cover and put them away so you can see the copper woofers.

The Paladiums speaker cab look outstanding but then they put woofers in that do not match the cabnets to me. To me it is like WOW look at the cabinet and then you see the woofers and it takes something away from the overall apperance IMHO.
