  1. Hello, who have to sell a pair of K79 drivers (to send in Italy)? It's hard to find them here. Many thanks. Lorenzo.
  2. Ok. So, electrically (and sonically, I think) it makes no difference.
  3. I have seen that all the network's schematics (AK, AK2 and AK3) reported in this Forum contain an error in the tweeter section: the 500uH inductance and the 2uF cap (in parallel to the tweeter) are inverted. If you see the real pics of the crossovers you can note the error in the schematic. I hope that the technicians in the Forum can confirm this error. Lorenzo.
  4. Here is the horn I have bought: http://cgi.ebay.it/New-Jabo-KH-55-A-Horns-Laboratory-Serie-for-Altec_W0QQitemZ220122528549QQihZ012QQcategoryZ22062QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. Thank you Stereohermit. I have changed the mid horn with the round horn from Jabo (like the Avantgarde) that go down to 300Hz and I want to change the cross bass-mid. That horn is much better than the Altec 511B. Can you tell me the necessary changes?
  6. I would know if I can modify the B3 network for the Cornwall to have the 400Hz instead of the 600HZ. Is it enough to swap from the 5uf to 8uf cap? Many thanks for the help. Lorenzo.
  7. Thank you. But I have bought it from Bob Crites. Lorenzo.
  8. Thank you Marshall, but I hope that someone here in the Forum has a K400 to sell.
  9. I need only one K400 horn to complete my Cornscala. Anyone has one to sell me (preferably with the gasket inside)? I hope I can find it.
  10. Great Bob, that is what I need (and hoped). So, the 3465 (probably the T3A) is 6db like the T5A in the AK2 (according to Steve P at Klipsch). It's very interesting for me that am building an AK2 (great only for me) starting from a bad AL type. The AK2 has the maximum squawker attenuation among all the Klipsch networks. Finally I know the only way to convert the AL type - I already have the 4mH inductors, the 140uf and the 5uf (5+8=13uf) caps to add in the circuit . The tweeter circuit is sonically perfect (the same in the AK, AK2 and AK3). Many thanks. This Forum is really fantastic.
  11. I need to know the attenuation of the TA3 autoformer in the AL network. I hope you can help me. Thanks. Lorenzo.
  12. Hi Bob, according to Steve P at Klipsch the T4A is a fixed -4db, the T5A is -6db but has an additional tap to run the squawker at full output. That is what I have found in other threads.
  13. If the T5A autotransformer has a fixed -6db tap, can I use the tap 3 (that is -6db) in the T2A? If yes, I can build an AK2 network with the T2A. What do you think about? The AK2 is my favourite Khorn crossover: and I think I'm the only one that like it.
  14. I have today bought the Leak Stereo 20 on Ebay.it. The EL84 are Siemens and some caps are new. Here is a pick of the inside. Has it done a good job? Have I to change caps or resistors? It's too expensive send it to Craig. http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d91bxr6.jpg I hope it can sounds good with the Corns. Lorenzo.
  15. Eureka!!! I have today bought the Leak Stereo 20 on Ebay.it for 500 euros. The EL84 are Siemens and some caps are new. Here is a pick of the inside. Has it done a good job? Have I to change the caps or resistors? http://img441.imageshack.us/my.php?image=d91bxr6.jpg I hope it can sounds good with the Corns. Lorenzo.
  16. I ask to the experts if the K53-K is the same driver now used in the new Cornwall and Heresy III (called K53-TI).
  17. I would use a pair of K55-V (spring terminal) in my Corns to replace the K53-K. I think that the only change to do is eliminate the 2.5mH inductor in the squawker circuit (in the B3 network). Obviously I have to use the K-600 horns too. Is that right? The other components are the classic K33-E and K77-M.
  18. Thanks Guy, Craig and to all. Now I am officially in search of a Leak Stereo 20 in good condition (some are in Ebay.uk).
  19. If I buy a 120volts amp I need an inverter for 230volts so, if I buy a Leak Stereo 20, I don't need that other component. From your answers I think that the Leak ins't inferior to Scott or Eico and I can easily find it in Europe (less shipping costs and customs). Is this a definitive good choice?
  20. Thanks Guy, so you think I'll have no improved sound if I change with any of this vintage amps? My tubes are GE (the small ones) and Electro Harmonix 6CA7 (fat bottle) for the EL34: the bass is beautiful, but the highs aren't like the SET amps (300B or 2A3).
  21. Thanks to all. I still haven't an idea what amp I'll buy; for now I use a Conrad Johnson MV-50 and it have a good sound but not like I wanted. After this discussion I think I'll search for a restored Scott 299c/d or Eico HF-81. The best thing could be if someone here have one of these amps (preferably NosValves rebuilt) for sale.
  22. The Leak Stereo 20 costs 650.00 euros (only the power amp) and it's in good condition. The Scott 299A costs euros 450.00 and looks very good too. How is the sound of Leak amps compared to the others (remember I like the warm sound)?
