  1. I am looking to buy a Scott 299 or 222 that has been restored by Craig at NOSValves. I will look at anything in the 299 or 222 line. A headphone jack would be nice, but not required. Must work perfectly. Cosmetics are a bonus, are not that important. I know it is a long shot, but maybe someone here has one that is in a second system/not being used. I will also consider an el84 based integrated with at least a few inputs. I am in Houston, Texas. If you have one, please send me a PM, with some of the details (model number, tubes, cosmetics, asking price etc) and a picture or two if you don't mind. Thanks! Kevin

  6. Hey guys - For sale is my Scott 299a. The amp had the deluxe rebuild by Craig at NOSValves and should be good for many years to come. This amp has some premium, expensive tubes. The preamp tubes are four (4) Telefunken. I will include three (3) new extra Tungsol 12x7's as well. Three of the output tubes are Mullards - I cannot tell what the fourth 4th one is. I will include an extra set of four (4) output tubes. I believe they are Telefunken as well. The face is beautiful and in great shape, all lettering intact, no bent corners. I do not have the factory case, but I built a nice oiled Oak cage that sits over then amp that I will include. The amp works perfectly and I have never had any issues with it at all. As far as I can tell the tubes are solid. I have not noticed any noise or weakness at all. I have used it with Khorns, La Scalas and Cornwalls and it was a great amp for all of those. I can ship using fed ex ground to the lower 48 from Houston (77079). No international shipping please. I will accept a check from a veteran forum member or will accept paypal. $650 firm, plus actual shipping. I can send pictures to interested parties. Thanks, Kevin
  7. These are single driver, rear loaded corner horn speakers. They have the fostex 126en drivers in them that were upgraded from the Fostex 126e. (I will include the extra drivers as well). These speakers image extremely well and when placed in the corners can load a room really well. These are not bass monsters by any measure, but the bass they produce is nice, clean and realistic. Cherry veneer on top and front and oak on the sides. These are handmade and the emphasis from the factory is clearly on sonics, but these are in good cosmetic shape and look good. Ships from Houston - local pickup welcome. $399 (about 1/2 of new without the extra drivers). Shipping would be about $40 to the lower 48 Thanks! Kevin
  8. Bump - if any one is interested. It is on Audiogon as well. This is a really great preamp. Very quiet, very reliable and sounds great. Kevin
  9. Yes - I sent you an email. Thanks, Kevin
  10. Stormin - Just my opinion. I love them and think these are great speakers. I had a black pair of 1989s with the AL crossovers. I didn't like the sound that much until I switched to an AA crossover then I loved them. I think the consensus would be that there is a lot better crossover for that speaker than the AL . Being from 1989, those crossovers might need to be recapped anyway. I think you wil get a difference of opinion on the color. I personally like the black ones - they can look great when they are cleaned up and waxed with furniture wax. The price depends on where you live and how often they come up - shipping these is tough and expensive. If they are local to you and you don't see many of them come up for sale, I would not hesitate to go after them with a strong bid. In that condition, i would think that they would bring $800 to $1000 easily. I don't know the importance of consecutive serial numbers, it might help on resale, but I will leave that to someone else to chime in. Good luck! Kevin
  11. These are mono amps. The circuit was designed by Gordon Rankin, based upon the "Baby" Ongaku. (google "Baby Ongaku" to read more about the circuit). I bought them off of Audiogon about three years ago. The builder designed these to look a little like the Garber Fi amps and they look good. The parts selection is good - the transformers are Transcendar, I believe. Tubes are Sovtek 2a3's , vintage RCA rectifiers (5vga4) and Mullard drivers (12at7). A spare set of Sovteks 2a3's. The assembly is very well done and professional. The amps work flawlessly and sound great with the Heritage speakers. Will ship in two boxes - fixed shipping of $50 to the lower 48. PM with any questions. Paypal is fine Local pickup in Houston is fine also. Kevin
  12. Well reviewed, excellent tube preamp. Three inputs, one output, with the upgraded stepped attenuator and higher quality selector switch. Nice heavy Aluminum coated brass knobs. Some upgraded resistors as well. Professionally assembled. The cosmetics are very good, it works perfectly and sounds great. I have had it for about three years and never had an issue. (Kit price with the stepped attenuator is about $625, about $925 assembled) Local pickup in Houston is fine. Shipping included to the lower 48. Thanks - PM any questions. Paypal is fine. Kevin
