  1. yeah it makes sense....but i dont know if it was the sound card i have since it's external for my laptop, but i really wasn't impressed with the sound quality from the dd-5.1. I'm currently considering other options. I know you only get stereo for mp3's, but it sounds so much better with just going directly to my sound card without the DD-5.1 Granted i only got that to incorporate my TV/Ps2 to the sound mix, but i dont want to have to take that thing out of the circuit when I want to listen to just music on my laptop.
  2. i would say maybe, that tends to be the method to slash prices when a new release is coming out. Either that or they had slow in sales and wanted to move a bunch and I'm sure they have since the price is lower. Ya know what would be sweet....if they made an external sound card for laptops that had the same features. Like a 5.1 sound card Decoder by klipsch. I'd pay top dollar for that

  5. i get sound through the dd-5.1, but only out of the two front speakers. boo!
  6. Ok so I have the ultras, the audigy 2 nx external 5.1 sound card for my laptop, the green orange and black cords run from the sub to the card, boom, i get sound on my computer, woohoo! I was reading the dd51 manual over dinner, and it appears that you run those 3 cables that come with the unit from those three (front, rear, and center) ports on the sub, to the dd5.1 Now, I'm not sure if I run the cables from the sub package (with the green orange and black leads) to the cables that came with the dd-5.1 then to the dd-5.1 unit itself, to give me more room for the unit to be away from the sub, that would make the most sense. So then im thinking, i have to use the optical port to connect my usb sound card to the dd-5.1....otherwise i can't use my computer to utilize the speakers anymore, or digital coax i suppose. I dont know if im making much sense, im trying to make sense of it myself, what you guys think?
  7. Thanks BobG, great answer, very helpful! A+++
  8. I have the Klipsch 5.1 Ultras....my TV has built in optical and digital coax out, because there is a built-in dvd player. The only thing is though, the optical only gives out a signal when the DVD player is on. My TV does, however, have external speaker hookups. Which are the black/red hookups like are on the back of the satellites and the subwoofer. Any suggestions on how I could hook this up to my system?

  10. Ok, I'm dumb, I'll admit that, so here is a dumb question. Say I didnt' want to wait for this to come in the mail and I wanted to go buy something tomorrow at circuit city or whatever. If I want to hook up my speakers to my TV and my PS2, the DD-5.1 is a good choice. is there an alternative, besides pricey receivers?
  11. Does anyone use the Ultra 5.1 as a home theatre? or is that mostly a PC setup for sound?
  12. Yeah go packers! I left a little into OT, wish I saw that Pick for a TD
  13. I have a 27 inch Panasonic Tv. The Klipisch Ultra 5.1 system. I put the sub under my TV, not directly, the TV has a stand, there was maybe a foot, maybe a little less between the two, and the magnets in the sub ( i assumed it was shielded like the satellites were) really screwed up my tv's picture. Any suggestions on something I can do, or how far it should be from the TV?
  14. How far do all you guys/girls keep your sub from anything electronic? Is there a set amount of feet? Do you use anything to shield it? Any advice to this newbie would be much appreciated, thank you.
  15. I have the subwoofer that came with the 5.1 Ultras. I had it below my TV and there is crazy interference, I heard that there are a ton of magnets in the sub, is this true? And is there a way that I can shield it or something like the satellites are? will it do damage to my laptop if I keep it underneath my computer desk instead? Or do you have any suggestions for where it should go?
