  1. Hello again, O.K. I removed both tweeters from both speakers. I ohmed them both out and they were within 1 ohm of each other 9+10 ohms. This is not with the greatest ohm meter. I then took them both apart. #(1)tweeter seemed to be fine. Not knowing what I am looking at of course. #2 tweeter was sucked in twards the magnet and when I pulled it away from the magnet, it had a brown liquid on it as if it were melted. ** Should I now replace the diaphrams? ** Do the diaphrams come as a unit to include the cardboard piece and the connections from the crossover (Looks like one piece). ** Is it O.K. if some of the brown liquid from the melted one is down in the magnet> With this, should I replace the diaphrams or do I need to replace the whole tweeter
  2. I am all into saving some money and I am not afraid to do it myself. However I have a couple of last questions: ** when I take the tweeter physically apart, how do I tell if the diaphram is good/bad or if the entire tweeter is blown? Remember, I am getting a little sound (very faint)not hardly anything. *** If it is the diaphram, Should I go ahead and replace the diaphram in the tweeter in the other speaker while I am at it? Will there be any sound quality advantages?
  3. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, I am sorry for the previous explaination of my problem. I think I have now isolated the problem. I really listened and compared the sound from all drivers in both speakers. I found that the tweeter in one speaker was very bright and loud and the other tweeter was almost non existant. It did however produce some sound but very faintly. I switched tweeters between the speakers and the "problem tweeter" did the same thing in the other cabinet. It seems that I thought that one speaker was very bright (producing to much high freq.) when in fact, the other speaker was not bright enough (producing no high freq.....I feel pretty stupid at this point, but releved. So, I assume that I have a bad tweeter, Do you know the process in getting a new one? It is a k-79-k #129012 with a date of January 21,1997.
  4. Greetings, I have owned a set of KLF 30's for about 10 years +or-. I absolutly love them. I bought them brand new. I just bought a new HT receiver. I was running through the test tones for set up and calabration and noticed that (1) of the KLF 30's had a very tinny (no low output) sound to it. I switched speakers and the same speaker did it on the other side. I have isolated the problem to the speaker. However, while playing a CD, I can put my ear to the speakers and individually here the tweeter, midrange and woofer producing sound. Before I take it in for service, does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks, Mike
  5. Greetings, I am at the frustrating stage of wanting to change out some gear. I have the following: Processor...Lexicon DC-2. Amp...Bryston 9B ST. DVD... Sony 7000. Mains... KLF 30's. Center...C-7. Surrounds Sub...Mirage BPS-400. interconnects...Pure Silver. Sperker wire...MIT T-2. I really think that my Lexicon is dated in technology and I am missing some of the things that some of the new pieces have to offer. I am really thinking of getting rid of my seperates (Lexicon and Bryston) and going back to a receiver but am afraid to take a step backwards. I want to make an upgrade, but to do so, I need to sell what I have. I would really love to hear some opinions on this and maybe some suggestions on recievers that you are happy with. Thanks, Mike
  6. I have re-set up my home theater, In doing so, I went out and bought all silver interconnects (between my Lexicon DC-2 Preamp Processor and my Bryston 9B Amp. There is a local guy that makes the cables and they seem to be good quality. I have let them "burn in" for a good 100 hrs. The soundstage seems very large and the low end is very tight and controlled, However the highs seem to have left me. I am not saying that they are completely gone, they just seem not to be as detailed and ear pearcing as they were with basic (entry level) interconnects. Has anyone auditioned interconnects and found the "Jewels" Please let me know your experience and thoughts. System Lexicon DC-2 Bryston 9B Sony 5000 DVD KLF-30 C-7 KSP-S6 Silver interconnects MIT T-2 Biwire Mirage BPS-400 Sub Thanks, Mike
  7. Greetings, I have ben a longtime owner of klipsch products (all Heritage) I have no room for horns or LaScalla's. I purchased the KLF 30's and have been happy with there performance in my HT setup. Are there any mod suggestions? Is there a comp ALK crossover for these speakers? I just can not leave well enough alone, but then again, there is always room for improvement. I am driving them with the following: Lexicon DC-2 Bryston 9B MIT T2 Biwire Silver interconnects Thanks, Mike
  8. I own a KLF C-7 to match the KLF 30's that I am running for my mains. I see that there is now a RC-7. I was looking through the specs and noticed that my C-7 has a frequency response of 75HZ-20HZ and the RC-7 has a frequency response of 45HZ-20HZ. Which frequency response is better? Will the RC-7 give me better sound or should I stick with the C-7? Thanks, Mike
