  1. Also, if woofers aren't "where it's at" for sound quality( and I can't argue otherwise), then would it be advantageous for me to maybe pop in some JBL S38II's? They seem to be JBL's premium (8")woofer and JBL has no problem selling them to me. If the sound is really in the horns and tweeters, then maybe I should look for a sub-premium woofer. The Advent Hertitage speakers I have(had) sounded quite nice (I know, by who's standards?) until the woofers keeled over. I always suspected it was the hardwood cabinets, but if sound is mostly in the smaller components, then i'm barking up the wrong tree aren't I? TD
  2. Cool, thanks guys. I'll check 'em out. TD
  3. Hi Guys, Actually, I have a very nice Pecan hardwood set of speaker boxes that I want to maintain. The original Advent drivers are now defunct. I have no desire to replace them with advent drivers. That would be kind of a stupid move since the first 4 went bad. Instead I would like to put some nice drivers into these great sounding hardwood cabinets. Much lake taking the Mopar stereo and speakers out of your vehicle to replace them with something better. I would hardly expect to be able to buy chevy parts from the ford dealer. I am a great craftsman and can adapt any 8" driver to these boxes. The problem I ran into with Klipsch is that they wont sell me drivers unless I am replacing them in a Klipsch box. That would be like Dodge telling me that they won't sell seats to me because I wish to put them in a Ford. It actually a great compliment. But Klipsch doesn't see it that way. Yes, I do have some part numbers. I've done some homework. I made it perfectly clear to the guy that I would like to put Klipsch drivers into my own boxes and he said "sorry". That, to me, is foolish. Just in case this fella misunderstood me, like some here did, i'll try again tomorrow. Take care. TD

But if you want to fix up your Advent speakers, there are probably better choices. There are sites that sell NOS Advent parts and replacement parts for Advent speakers. ---------------- Well Malcolm, it's seems you're right. Klipsch is only interested in selling complete packages. You must first show your allegiance to Klipsch before you earn the right to buy parts. I guess i'm no longer interested in Klipsch. Thanks for your help. I'm off to find another quality brand whose business policy might promote the sale of any part as long as it's at thier asking price. I kinda feel like i'm being told i'm not good enough for Klipsch.

One of the initations is to listen to a Bose Wave Radio for 36 hours. Most of the initiates crack after an hour. Hence membership is exceptionally limited. Gil ---------------- Thanks a million Gil. I'm on it. As for the Secret Society, initiation sounds a little harsh, Do I get a patch for that? TD
  6. All I want is to price out some Klipsch Drivers. I've done some searching and some asking and can't seem to make any headway, not even on the Klipsch site. Heck, I can't even find a phone number! Is there some kind of secret organization I need to join? I'll join... if that's what it takes. I'll even become president of said secret organization if it means it'll get me access to Klipsch drivers. Can anybody here me through all the distortion and chunks of foam? Good grief ! TD
  7. Which is exactly what i'm trying to do. Thanks
  8. I'd like to spend less than $300 dollars for four 8" drivers.
  9. I'm interested in replacing the speakers in my old Advent Heritage box's with some Klipsch's. Where do I start? I'm probably not looking for the level of quality that most of you are, but I would like a speaker that's not going to fall apart on me when I deliver a little juice. TD
  10. Hi everyone, I have a pair of Advent floorstanding speakers with dual 8" drivers. The drivers have gone to $^%&. Will Klipsch sell drivers separately or do I have to buy the entire cabinet? TD
