  1. thanks for the opinions. what is a plate amp? If I did go for a new sub replacement, what would you recomend? I would probly not really want to break the 250 mark this time.
  2. So, I called the 800klipsch guys. they said to try the speaker on another line to see if it was blown or not. I found out the speaker is not blown. There is somethiung wrong with the amp that is causing a louud static, idsturbance with the speaker. I actually bought a ksw-10 recently and hooked both speakers up to each amp and vice versa. the amp of the ksw-12 has some kind of problem i guess. does anyone know if thins sounds like a common problem that i may be able to fix? should i try to call tomarrow and send the amp in for service or get advice here? it is past the warranty date though.
  3. --sorry for the double post- the first one was in the wriong category-- I just spent like 2 hours searching the forum but I am not sure if I got any decent information on my woofer here. I bought the speaker (ksw-12) like 4 1/2 years ago. It saw very little use for the first 3 years as it was in my bedroom while i was at college. The speaker saw some use the last year and then one day it just started soundeing completely muffled. I have a roomate and he said he did not even use the woofer or notice anything strange. The woofer only came on when I turned my stereo on (basically just the weekends to blast music before going out). It sqaw very little use overall and was at like 2/3 max volume at worst. I wasn't around for a while and we had not been using my stereo for some time and I put the woofer on and it sounded terrible. it was completely distorted and sounded like the kid in high school driving the hoopty with a big system and a loose licence plate...like a brup-brup-bub-brup sound. I am guessing in my limited stereo knowledge that the driver is blown. Does anyone know if klipsch will help me in any way? Is there anything I can do myself? Would a blown driver be covered under the 5 year defects warranty? I am just upset because I bought the system for when I got an apartment and after being here less than a year the thing blew and we didn't even use it more than 2x a week max...and I loved the crazy bass it threw out before this happened..rocked the house down
  4. at very low vloumes the woofer sounds fine but as soon as any audible power is sent to the driver it starts to sound like it has peaked out
