  1. Hey everybody - We are in the process of a new construction townhouse, and I am in charge of the main family room's A/V. It is a large room that is open to the kitchen - probably 16x30 between both rooms. Right now, the plan is to have my plasma (55" Panny) mounted on the wall, with either in-wall or on-wall speakers. After going through the studded-out layout, the speakers will have to be all mounted vertically if they are in-wall do to the studs and a sprinkler line that can't be moved. Here are my options for the LCR (already using two in-ceiling speakers for surrounds): (3) Klipsch R-5800-W II In-Wall Speaker - these would be three across, all mounted vertically (2) Klipsch R-5800-W II as L and R, (1) Klipsch Gallery G-28 as center below TV (3) Klipsch Gallery G-28 Flat Panel Speaker - on-wall speakers mounted around TV - two vertically, one horizontal These will be driven with a Denon AVR-889, and with an SVS sub (I know I may need a 2nd sub with the size of this room) - system will be for 95% TV and Movies. Does anybody have any thoughts on the different speakers? I am leaning towards the first option with the 3 in-wall speakers, but am concerned with how a vertical bookshelf will look as a center channel. Does anybody have this set up in their system? Any thoughts are appreciated!
  2. Wow, I feel like an idiot. One of the inputs from the source I was listening too came loose and that was the problem. Also, I just want to thank whoever it was that recommended Parts Express for cables. I got a set of the Dayton Audio speaker cables, and they are absolutely gorgeous as well as pretty cheap. Thanks again.
  3. I just purchased some new sets of speaker cable, and went today to swap them out. I did nothing but take the old ones out and put the new ones in and hooked them up to my Denon 3805, and when I turned it back on, there was only a signal coming from one of the mains, and nothing was coming out of either the other main or the center (I only run a 3.1). I swapped the cables to make sure they weren't defective, and all of the speakers and cables still work, but only from the FR binding on the receiver. I went into the setup and tried to do manual test tones, but it will only let me test the one that works. Also, the old wires and new ones are both bananas, so there was violent contact or anything in the swap. If anybody has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. Brian
  4. Is this what you're looking for?
  5. Another option you might want to consider is Mozilla's new open source web browser called Firefox. It has a built-in pop up blocker that I have found far more effective than any other product out there, has a Google toolbar built in, and uses less memory than IE. If you want to try it: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
  6. Thanks guys, that was what I was thinking, but I just wanted to get your opinions. Also, do you guys have any suggestions on where to get an RC-7? I don't have much problem paying retail for it, although I've been watching eBay and Audiogon and haven't found any. I live in NE PA and there isn't an authorized dealer within a couple of hours. Thanks again in advance. I appreciate the comments.
  7. I am piecing together my home theater system very slowly, and as cost effective as possible. As it stands now I'm running two RB-75's as mains. My next purchase will be a center channel and a receiver. I have narrowed my choices down to the RC-7 or RC-35 for the center, and then to the Denon AVR-3803 and 3805 for the receiver. The problem is, I'm not going to have enough money to get both high ends, so my question is to which component should I favor the higher end (RC-7 and 3803 or RC-35 and 3805)? Or should I simply hold off until I can afford both higher ends. Is it that important to match the components of the RB-75 and the RC-7. Would the RC-35 get dominated by the 75's as the mains? Or are the upgrades in the 3805 too great to pass up? Are there any other brands that I should maybe look into? The system will be used about equally for HT and music, with a Denon DVD-2200. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Brian
  8. I'm new to the forum but would like to solicit all of your advice. I am a college student and will be living in either a dorm room or a small apartment for the next several years of my life. I am looking to purchase speakers for a home theater system and am looking for advice. I want to spend around $1,000-1,500 on speaker components and am looking for suggestions. I would prefer something that would be efficient with space, but not sacrifice too much sound quality. The system will be used probably equally for DVD's and music, but I am looking for a system with at least 2 fronts, a center channel, and a sub(maybe a low end SVS or a KSW-10). I already have the Promedia 2.1 multimedia speakers on my computer, love them and would like to purchase another set of Klipsch speakers. Any suggestion as to where to spend more money to maximize quality would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
