  1. Carl, What have you heard (if anything) about M&K's line of subwoofers? Supposedly they don't hit as high on the SPL meter but they can drop down quite low (their specs are listed at an accurate +/- 2db). Regards, Alfred
  2. I see that you have both SVS and HSU subs. What do you recommend? I was looking at a PB-2 ISD (or whatever they just renamed it to), PB-2+, 25-31 PC+ and 20-39 PC+....kinda favoring the boxes....which would mean I'd have to look at the Outlaw LFM and the HSU VTF-3.....performance wise what do you think? Looks wise? My profile at the end of my posts isn't accurate...I haven't bought a sub yet...cause I was indecisive earlier this summer
  3. My Marantz Amp puts out 150 x 5 into 8 ohms. I can't even FATHOM hanging 75's on a wall, it's like hanging a small TV. 35's are too big as they are, lol. If anything maybe the 25's - since I use them a lot for effects, and they can go pretty low.
  4. I don't believe the cutoff are for the low frequencies though. In the manual it is described as a "filter switch." There are three positions. The first has output on all speakers set to 40 KHz. The second has 50 KHz for the fronts, and 40 KHz for all others. The third is 50 KHz output for all. It states "if you are not that your system is able to handle audio input signals up to 50 KHz do not change the output signal. You may damage your speakers or amplifier/receiver." There is a 4 Hz difference in low frequency between the 25 and 35. My only problem is wall mounting them...they're heavy. Which of the bookshelves fo you recommend for use as rear surrounds? As you see I've chosen direct radiating as I believe the bipole design was better suited for the days of Dolby Pro Logic where matrixed sound had an advantage with bipole dispersion. Regards, Alfred
  5. I know I wouldn't be able to hear beyond 20 KHz. I was inquiring because I've read articles where that 50 Hz setting gave speakers problems. It's a setting for "true" SACD supposedly. I just don't want to damage the tweeter/horn. Does anyone have the Philips SACD1000 with their Klipsch?
  6. I am currently finalizing upgrades to my HT system to accomodate Super Audio CD functionality. For my SACD unit, I am integrating a Philips SACD1000. It is running on a Marantz Pre-Amp and Amp. I contacted Marantz about the handling of SACD bandwidth - and their equipment can indeed handle the extreme frequencies that SACD supplies. The more important question is - can Klipsch Reference handle the frequencies? I have RF-35's, an RC-35 and RB-15 (maybe 25 or 35, don't know yet) on the way. On the back of the Philips there is a switch that allows 40 KHz max frequencies for SACD, and there is a 50 KHz option. I want to make sure that ALL the speakers can handle the frequency. I don't want to burn the tweeters. Does anyone have any information on this? Regards, Alfred PS - By the way for you Klipsch fans -- I bought this Reference set over a similarly priced Dynaudio, M&K, Paradigm and Axiom set.
  7. Darren- I will be feeding the front two mains 2 Marantz MA-700 THX Ultra 2 Monoblocks each. They will be bridged (600W to 8 ohms, who knows into 4 ohms). The remaining 5 will be powered using a Marantz MM9000 THX Ultra Amp (150W x 5 into 8 ohm). Alfred
  8. I am in the middle of a huge dilemma. As you can see from my profile below, these are the Klipsch speakers I plan on buying. However, how do these compare with Axioms? I was looking at the M80's, which, according to one of their experts has been tested to both 700 watts and 1200 watts peak without a problem. These are 4 ohm speakers. The Axiom board is obviously pro-Axiom and I expect the same for Klipsch here. I had the Synergy System 6 before this and was severely disappointed in its performance (especially the center and sub, yuck). Would the horns be as harsh as the Axiom fans are saying since I'm driving them with a Marantz receiver instead of something brighter like a Yammy? The RF-7's are also almost twice as heavy, and much more beautiful. It's not a three-way like the Axioms but I've heard good things about both. What's the consensus between all of you about these RF-7's vs. the competition, especially Axioms? I would end up paying almost a thousand more. And don't even get me started on a PB-2 Plus vs. an RSW-15....
