  1. Hi everyone. I am now almost blind from about 9 straigh hours of brousing these forums!! The level of knowledge and willingness to help is simply amazing! As I posted elsewhere I have recently aquired some components through less than happy circumstances, but I am going to use it as an opportunity! A very close friend recently passed away and while he left all his high end audio gear to his son, he left some things to me that I know were very important to him. He had a pair of Walnut Heresys and a Denon DP-62L turntable that he had not used in years, but could not bring himself to get rid of. I had commented to him (half jokingly) that he should give them to me since they were going to waste in his closet! Well, I now own them and am going to build a system around them. So far these are the only pieces I have. I will have to build this system a little at a time for economic (I'm Broke) reasons. My other limitation is my small room. It is 10' X 15' X 7.5' High. It is also upstairs which doesn't seem to me to be the best possible situation. Not much, but the only space in the whole house that I have to myself! Now to the inevitable questions! I am a complete Newbie at this. I would like a system that sounds good more than one that is an absolute perfect reproduction. Given the limitations of my room size and budget, I am willing to live with the tradeoffs that are going to be necessary, but mostly don't want to waste money on stuff that doesn't accomplish anything. I have done some investigating and have noticed a common thought that the Heresys are very dependant on amp choice for good sound. Is this true? If so what should I be looking for? Thanks in advance for putting up with my questions and for any thoughts you might have.
  2. Thanks for the welcome Popbumper! My wife has correctly surmised that me getting these speakers (and a Denon DP-62L Turntable) has started me on a quest to build a suitable system around them!
  3. Hi guys. I just received a pair of Walnut Heresy's from the wife of a very close friend who recently lost his battle with cancer. I know what they meant to him so I can assure you they will be well cared for and used as they were meant to be! What I was looking for is info on them. She knows he bought them at the end of 1985 and that he got them in Hot Springs Arkansas. That was all she knew. The info on the tags is as follows: Klipsch Heresy Type HWO Serial 8513853 8513854 I am assuming the 85 in the serial number is the year built, but that is all I know about them other than they sure sound better than my old Walmart Sony speakers!
